Ordering a new one takes a lot of patience... if you're going to do it, get everything you want or regret it later.

These are the challenges to have in life. The only difference between you & I is that I went for the manual 6-speed. I took delivery of my 25 GT 400A Feb 25 at age 62 & just retired. I also want a street cruiser. The PP just stiffens it up, no added power. My Shadow Pony handles curves at speed like it's on rails. The ride is amazingly comfortable for what the car can do. However your dilemma is like smoking salmon (Alaska is home), you're going to like it no matter how you do it! 😎

Just because you have it doesn't mean you need to use it. Besides nothing nicer than to sitting at a red light and have some kid in a tuner wanting to drag race you off the line and get his ass handed to him!
PP doesn't add any ponies!? 🤔

I'm 66 and I will get my new 2026 GT Premium in a week or so. Not to be used for any type of racing, just a fun car. It's my first performance car since having a GTO in the 70's. It may be my last car, so I loaded it with the performance package, premium package, active exhaust, B&O and magnaride. I won't use 80% of its capabilities, but I never wanted to think "what if" when it came to options. Oh, in manual too. First manual in decades. I'm going to have some fun before I "get called".
Shit Bro, with all those options why not just get the DH as your ride to Heaven!? 😃

Won't add ponies, but the traction and launch controls make for a better jump off the line
I beg to differ. Mine has launch control (not that I use it) and hooks up really well! 😉

Well that would have been another $6K. Gotta draw a line in the sand at some point. I added plenty and still kept the wife happy. Don't want to push my luck. She restrained herself a little when she got her Bronco, so I return the good will. Sorta...

I'm in the same age range and have run this same analysis. I've owned 8 Mustangs over the years (GT500s, GT350, GTs, Super Snake, and DHs). All my Mustangs have been grocery getting, all-season, all-weather fighters. Currently live in CO and just bought my second DH with HP (my first DH was base). I don't race, drag, or track.

I definitely don't need the HP (or the SC I had installed). However, after driving the base DH side by side against the HP, I couldn't get over how nimble and solid the HP felt. After the dealer offer me employee pricing, I bought it outright same day.

Now, all the errands I run are 10x more enjoyable, the groceries I get somehow taste better, and road trips are like being in my own DH adventure movie.

Go DH, with or w/o the HP.
I definitely agree on the DH handling package, I have that on mine and it is crazy nimble and stable. I have not driven the standard DH so i cant compare the 2 but the stock setup with the trofeos is outstanding. My car is a daily as well, now I dont drive it that much but I do enjoy it alot. Don't even get me going about the braking capabilities! That still surprises me how quick this thing stops when needed. Feels very safe in that regard. It's a very capable machine in my opinion.

ok from one mildly older guy to another I prefer the 401a for the factory memory seats with the easy exit feature. Where you turn off the engine and the seat goes all the way back by it self. Easy to get out and easier to get back in. Then power on and it goes back to my preset location. If you got bad knees or back and want an easy entry/exit, the 401a package is worth its weight. Thats all Im sayin.

I custom ordered a 300A spec, 10r80, active exhaust and night pony.

car is amazingly well equipped, you’ll love the 3:55 N/A, I stayed 3:15 for boost

with night pony you get the badges, 19” black wheels, headlights… I think it’s worth it for the sick contrast

I've been playing with my Gen 1 Mustangs since about 1975. I have a '67 S code fastback that has a 428 SCJ I picked up in the 1980's. I have a '72 Mach 1 351CJ C6 with a Detroit Locker and 3.90:1 gears. I also have a '72 convertible 351CJ Ram Air with a C6 and the CJ stall converter. 3.25:1 gears and a 4 pinion traction lock. Power windows, air, intermittent wipers and an AM/FM stereo. I had a '82 GT that I had heavily modded: narrowed 9" 31 spline axles, 5 speed, T-tops, Recaro seats and the 302 was built for me by a local sprint car shop. 351W heads, ported with Manley pro flow valves, ARP everything. I sold the '82 in 1989 when my son was born. With the promise I could get another after a while.

Well, finally, last November I found a nearby dealer the had a '25 DHP with a 10R80 in Grabber Blue Metallic that sold it to me at invoice. In April I took it to a tuner near here with a Superflow Chassis dyno. I had a Stage 1 Whipple (to get the warranty), a vapor catch can, Lethal double H pipe with high flow resonators, and a Steeda Stop-the-Hop kit. 769 HP at the rear tires. Point is, I've always loved that feeling of acceleration off the line. If I'm careful, I can feather the throttle through first and second then floor it the rest of the way. Grins from ear to ear! Get what YOU want. My '25 will eat the '72 Mach 1 for lunch. It's incredible what these Coyotes are capable of.
