Ordering a new one takes a lot of patience... if you're going to do it, get everything you want or regret it later.

These are the challenges to have in life. The only difference between you & I is that I went for the manual 6-speed. I took delivery of my 25 GT 400A Feb 25 at age 62 & just retired. I also want a street cruiser. The PP just stiffens it up, no added power. My Shadow Pony handles curves at speed like it's on rails. The ride is amazingly comfortable for what it can do. However your dilemma is like smoking salmon (Alaska is home), you're going to like it no matter how you do it! 😎

Just because you have it doesn't mean you need to use it. Besides nothing nicer than to sitting at a red light and have some kid in a tuner wanting to drag race you off the line and get his ass handed to him!
PP doesn't add any ponies!? 🤔

I'm 66 and I will get my new 2026 GT Premium in a week or so. Not to be used for any type of racing, just a fun car. It's my first performance car since having a GTO in the 70's. It may be my last car, so I loaded it with the performance package, premium package, active exhaust, B&O and magnaride. I won't use 80% of its capabilities, but I never wanted to think "what if" when it came to options. Oh, in manual too. First manual in decades. I'm going to have some fun before I "get called".
Shit Bro, with all those options why not just get the DH as your ride to Heaven!? 😃

Won't add ponies, but the traction and launch controls make for a better jump off the line
I beg to differ. Mine has launch control (not that I use it) and hooks up really well! 😉

Well that would have been another $6K. Gotta draw a line in the sand at some point. I added plenty and still kept the wife happy. Don't want to push my luck. She restrained herself a little when she got her Bronco, so I return the good will. Sorta...

I'm in the same age range and have run this same analysis. I've owned 8 Mustangs over the years (GT500s, GT350, GTs, Super Snake, and DHs). All my Mustangs have been grocery getting, all-season, all-weather fighters. Currently live in CO and just bought my second DH with HP (my first DH was base). I don't race, drag, or track.

I definitely don't need the HP (or the SC I had installed). However, after driving the base DH side by side against the HP, I couldn't get over how nimble and solid the HP felt. After the dealer offer me employee pricing, I bought it outright same day.

Now, all the errands I run are 10x more enjoyable, the groceries I get somehow taste better, and road trips are like being in my own DH adventure movie.

Go DH, with or w/o the HP.
I definitely agree on the DH handling package, I have that on mine and it is crazy nimble and stable. I have not driven the standard DH so i cant compare the 2 but the stock setup with the trofeos is outstanding. My car is a daily as well, now I dont drive it that much but I do enjoy it alone. Don't even get me going about the braking capabilities! That still surprises me how quick this thing stops when needed. Feels very safe in that regard. It's a very capable machine in my opinion.
