I get it everybody has a take on the back seat. On my S650 and old S550 There is plenty of room for adults in the back seat and I have done it often. I know I am unusually small guy, Get behind my seat and there is plenty of enough room. If the front passenger seat pulls their seat a little bit forward their is plenty of room for adults. I will give you this, with the top up it is almost impossible to get in or out out of the back seat.

I do not think anyone has ever been in the back seat of my 650. My 550s quite often.

I have never had anyone sit in the back seat of my convertible. However, my wife and I greatly appreciated the space when we traveled Route 66 last year. With the wind deflector, the seats were usable for storage even with the top down.

I probably have someone in my back seat once a year just by random need an no planning. Its a whole thing every time it happens. I feel sorry for both my front and rear seat passengers.

Its not so much the hight (which is severely limited to about 5'8), but there is no leg room and getting in and out should come with clown music. Unless its a small child I would avoid when ever possible.
I've had people back there around 3 times, and thats exactly right its quite a chore. 😃 silly music track in background.

Back seat is usually folded down so I can hear that engineering marvel and masterfully crafted B&O subwoofer 🙄

Zero back seat passengers.

Never. I have a 4-point cage and a backseat delete. So.....
The only one in that space is Mr. Zilla. (A stuffed Godzilla plushy). He is the only one tough enough to ride in the back of the WarHorse!
Lol @ the stuffed Godzilla... I have a stuffed pear in my truck... sporting a t-shirt that says, "grow a pear".

Almost never. I toss a backpack back there on occasion and that's about it. The seats basically still look brand new because I honestly can't recall ever having someone sit in them.

I think I'm the only person who has ever been back there and it was only like once or twice to clean. Like others, my biggest problem was getting back out.

Had the gf sit in the back before, she was comfortable. :) Just had to move the seat forward a tad, lol.

Weighing my options between a S550 Mach 1 and an S650 Dark Horse, I wonder how much people will hate the backseat. I do have some friends on the shorter side, seems like around 5'8" or so is when peoples' heads start touching the headliner?
I don't have a Mustang, BUT...I will answer the general question. How often do I have people in my back seat?

Answer, rarely. With the exception of the below, maybe 3 times in the past 6 years
I am a work from home/travel employee, meaning when I am not in my home office, I am at the airport.
I have no kids, I have no relatives close to me.
I do have dogs (one a golden retriever), and I will admit, getting a dog into the back of a coupe is a pain in the rear end.
THAT SAID...
Two years ago I tore my right shoulder rotator cuff and one bicep tendon. It required surgical repair and for about 8 weeks after surgery, I was required to wear an immobilizer sling. This sling prevented me from being able to sit in the passenger seat, and I was forbidden to drive. This meant I had to spend time in the backseat (left side) when my wife drove me to my appointments. If we only had a mustang, we would have needed to take a cab or a ride share (looking now, it's a 50 dollar ride each way in a car that I can be guaranteed to fit in...and that's to the closest office. the further office - had to go there once - is 75 bucks each way right now) My friend would be in the 100s because his doctor was about 50 miles away

The point is, you never know if you will need a backseat. You may think that you will never use it, and then BAM....you need to have one you can use. Not saying don't get a mustang, just be aware of the issue.
