EcoBoost here,

I can only dream of having lane centering; my last car had it and I slowly regret not getting the premium trim, considering that it looks like lane centering is bundled with ACC...

I'm petitioning for Ford to make lane centering a separate feature 🙃

Background; I have a manual GT with adaptive cruise.

So, I played around with this a little today. I was able to get lane centering toggle show up in the adaptive cruise menu on the center screen; however I could not enable it I would just get this is not available now.

So I looked around and it appeared it has something to do with Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) I enabled this in the IPMA, and I now could move the slider to enabled lane centering on the center screen, problem is the adaptive cruise and Forward Collision Assist warning was now on the Instrument cluster.

Quick reboot and read the trouble codes in the forscan shows “ABS not configured properly, or something similar. Under IPMA and ABS modules. So off I went into the ABS module. The only things i could find in the ABS module that "looked" like the related to the problem was these;

760-03-01xxxxx*xxxx--1 =CC Without Cruise Control3 =CC Adaptive Cruise Control
2 =CC Cruise Control4 =CC ADAPTIVE SPEED CONTROL-STOP/GO

Mine was a 3 I tried a 4 and still had the same warnings, I also tried

760-03-01xxxxxxx*xx--1 =CMB Without CMbB-system4 =CMB COLLISION MITIG SYS 3 LVL 2 (different performance see Feature list)
2 =CMB CMbB-system (Collision Mitigation by Braking) gen 15 =CMB COLLISION MITIGATION SYS #2

Mine is was 5 and tried a 4 with no luck.

Asbuilt data for the ABS, IPMA, APIM, PSC, and IPC modules from a GT with adaptive cruise automatic transmission would be helpful, especially one from what looks like a european car based on that video.

I do think everyone is on to something! The video was helpful to show what it “actually” looks like haha.

Keep it up !

@robotninjasrule TJA does not have to be enabled for lane centering to work. TJA is the system that slows down for traffic and speeds up when it starts moving again. You definitely don't want that on a manual. It is a function of adaptive cruise control. The fact that it allowed you to turn the toggle on for lane centering is interesting, though. I'll dig around a bit more. There is a setting in the PSCM for lane centering.

Ahh yes, I forgot to mention I started with the PSCM change (the one posted earlier in the thread) . this change alone did nothing but did not trip any codes.

What settings did you use to get things to show up in the menu and be able to toggle the option on and off?

I pulled asbuilt data for a DH Premium with auto and have been comparing things between that and my car.
The settings showing for 760-03-03 on the DH Premium are:
xxxx-0405-xx

Other stuff I have found that seems relevant to getting this to work:

  • In the APIM:
    • 7D0-09-04
      • xxxx-xxxx-*x
      • Speed limit menu/Cruise Control variant 2/Lane Centering/Smart Offering.
      • My asbuilt
        • xxxx-xxxx-8x
          • enabled/disabled/disabled/disabled
        • Premium asbuilt
          • xxxx-xxxx-Ex
          • enabled/enabled/enabled/disabled
    • 7D0-09-02
      • xxx*-xxxx-xx
        • Evasive Steering/Lane Assist Haptics/Intelligent Adaptive Cruise/Adaptive Headlights
        • My asbuilt
          • xxxC-xxxx-xx
          • enabled/enabled/disabled/disabled
        • Premium asbuilt
          • xxxE-xxxx-xx
          • enabled/enabled/enabled/disabled

  • In the PSCM
    • 730-02-02
      • xxxx-**xx-xx
        • Traffic Jam Assist
        • My asbuilt
          • xxxx-00xx-xx
          • disabled
        • Premium asbuilt
          • xxxx-FFxx-xx
          • enabled
      • xxxx-xx**-xx
        • Lane Centering Assist
        • My asbuilt
          • xxxx-xx00-xx
          • disabled
        • Premium asbuilt
          • xxxx-xxFF-xx
          • enabled

  • In BCM
    • 726-16-01
      • xxxx-xx**-xx
        • Engine Fuel Capability/Cruise Control
        • My asbuilt
          • xxxx-xx8C-xx
          • EFC Gas and Adaptive Cruise
        • Premium asbuilt
          • xxxx-xx90-xx
          • In this case engine seems like it's missing, but all options ending in '90' are for adaptive_cruise_control_stop_go

  • In IPC
    • 720-10-01
      • x*xx-xxxx-xx
        • Dim II Control Mirror/TSR/HDC Control/Traffic Jam Assist
        • My asbuilt
          • x0xx-xxxx-xx
          • disabled/disabled/disabled/disabled
        • Premium asbuilt
          • x1xx-xxxx-xx
          • disabled/disabled/disabled/enabled

This is just the stuff I have found so far. There is probably more.

Whether traffic jam assist is required for lane centering to work or not, it seems to be frequently grouped with either a cruise control or lane assist setting.

The reason I'm adding it to my search is because the owners manual states that in order for Lane centering to work, Adaptive Cruise control with Stop and Go must be enabled.
What is 'Stop and Go'? Is it Traffic Jam Assist or something else entirely?

The premium models also all seem to have 'Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control' whereas the manuals have only 'Adaptive Cruise Control'.

Stop and go is the 2nd variant of TJA. There’s some changes in the APIM for that as well.

IACC is what enables bluecruise, the more hands off version of self driving for fords.

There’s nothing really stopping Ford from just making an OTA update to enable lane centering, as it’s the same system as LKA. Alas, they have to make the premium models more appealing somehow.

@GrabThatBlue Admittedly I forgot about this thread for a while because it was seemingly dead. But this is amazing! This is exactly what I was wanting! Would you be so kind as to pull copies of your built data for us since we know for sure your car works as is? Since we don’t know exactly what all modules are affected to make this work it would be great if you could do all of them. It sounds like the other couple guys have made a bit of progress so far, I think maybe having more data from a known functional car would be helpful. @rugedraw @robotninjasrule @Yamazuki you guys are awesome for digging into this the way you have! Apparently I don’t know how to dig into the spreadsheets and Forscan as well as you do because I hadn’t found really anything that seemed like it would help when I started this thread. I amazed with the progress so far in getting the menu and slider to pop up. It definitely seems like this can be figured out! On a side note, if I understand what you guys are saying about TJA, that might work too and maybe is necessary for some reason since it affected the menu option. I briefly had a 2020 Honda Civic Si and it’s adaptive cruise, lane centering, and TJA features worked all the way to a stop, and would resume from a stop when I let the clutch out. It would let me downshift all the way to first, and then it would prompt me to press the gas and release the clutch to resume adaptive cruise. My mustangs adaptive only works down to I think it’s 10mph when it shuts off but anything above that it’ll let me put it in any gear even first and it continues working

The asbuilt for any premium with auto trans will give what you need... easy way to get one... find one for sale on a dealers website... many post the window sticker... viola, vin number for asbuilt.

Well it seemed like there was maybe some discrepancy about whether all 401a autos had it or not is the only reason I was think maybe his data specifically might be helpful. Also, I don’t even know how to do that apparently, embarrassingly lol. I was trying to use one of my works Bronco sports that has it and remote start to look for differences in the coding bit that wasn’t really helpful because as I found out the code line IDs aren’t even the same for a lot of them

Yeah apparently I know far less about Forscan than I even thought. And I already thought I was pretty ignorant about it lol

I love this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, I don't have one of these cars myself to experiment with stuff, but I have learned a lot about these things dealing with issues my truck had and helping a lot of people on the F150, Lightning and Mach E forums. You'd be surprised how similar all these vehicles are with each other in many things.

I thought it was only the 401A package.

And for the topicstarter. At the moment I'm not close to home for a few weeks. But I would do what Sofa King told you, but make sure it is a 401A package to be on the safe side.
