Hello All
I was wonder how many times can you reuse this drain plug ? The gasket is in the bolt now .You can't put a new gasket on. I wonder what are people are doing for this.

"They" say to replace the plug every time. But I have to confess I haven't, but I do use thread sealer or loctite blue on the threads. Never lost a plug or had a leak. I do always torque the plug.

Same plug is on my 2011. It has never been replaced or gasket. I doubt the dealer replaces plug or gasket when doing an oil change. I did replace the one on my24 as the threads were a very poor quality with burrs that would eventually cause issues with the pan. I used a stainless one with a magnet that also came with extra gaskets. The new one has perfect threads. Mustang S550 had plastic oil pans and I would not want one of those.

Its recommend but not required. My dealer replaced it with the last oil change. Previous plugs had a separate gasket that you could replace without the plug.

Note that the gen 3 coyotes had a composite oil pan which meant the plugs were not reusable.

Glad to hear it's a metal oil pan on our S650s. I'm planning to replace the plug every 3-4 oil changes. Same plug between Ecoboost and GT btw.

Helpful topic for me since I just picked up my car three days ago. The drain bolt in my Legacy GT is 19 years old but all Subarus use crush washers. Plug on my STI was 10. Both have metal pans. I always replace the washers at an oil change. Thanks for the tips here.

An exception for me was the stupid Dzus style plug on VW EA888 engines. I always used a new one, and used the factory tool and never had it leak. Dealers, it seemed weren't so careful
