Interesting they are calling the 4 door fastback the Mach 4. It makes me wonder if it's going to be more of a Mach-E redesign or variant, rather than a 4-door version on the current fastback.

The only key word reading between the lines is “delayed”

hope they make something that you all want, definitely interesting that they bumped the roadmap back a gen to buy more time/tech development etc.
"Delayed" means there are currently no plans to make it electric.

This generation almost just started, the next generation is being designed and is gasoline... The next next one isn't be thought of yet lol

Same thing happened when the Jeep JK 4 door came out in 2007. It too was sacrilege but they sell a lot when compared to the 2 door. I showed a rendering of the 4 door Mustang to my wife when the rumors started. She liked it. She always liked the look of a a Porsche Panamera. So if it keeps the brand alive, why not.
Interesting comparison. Lmao

(It’s not analogous)

IMHO, I don't care what Ford says, that ain't a Mustang.
Just an fyi, the only reason we’re getting ICE mustangs for the foreseeable future is because ford slapped an EV suv thing with the mustang name, effectively giving the CARB regulations for the whole mustang nameplate a proverbial throat punch. So while I might not like the Mach-E, I get why they did it and I’m very glad they did.

I am by no means an expert on this, but I have it in my head that the CARB standards were across an entire company line, not just Mustang has one set, Explorer has another, F-150 a completely different one. But I am happy to let anybody with more knowledge correct me.

If I am correct, then I would have rather Ford put a different name on it, maybe PROBE .

But then have a hybrid Mustang with an extra 100-200 hp turning the front wheels and I'm all in.

Does anyone want Ford to do what Chevy did with their Corvette concepts? Publicly revealing design studies years in advance and seeing what people like and don't like so they know the best direction to take the mustang in moving forward?

I would love to see some mustang design concepts and for Ford to essentially let us vote on where we want the future of mustang design to go.

The Mustang Mach E also has 4 doors.
Yea; I know. My reaction to that when I first heard about it was pretty much the same as the proposed 4 door! Just because you can.............................😉😉

No pure ICE V8 = No Mustang
I hope Ford won't FAFO
Farley and the world have seen the existent demand for EV "muscle/sports" cars - i.e: Dodge Challenger!

V8 forever. EV nEVer

This was debunked awhile ago as stated above. Name had nothing to do with it because it’s across all vehicles. Besides the Mach E’s name got changed like 3 times before they forced it.

Personally, I do like the Mach E, but I never thought it should have been called a Mustang. Just not the same "look". But it is one heck of a car on it's own.
I also don't mind if they take the S650 and add doors for the rear seats, AS LONG as they keep the same dimensions and stuff for the fenders/cut into them the rear door, keep the same window design, just now part of the rear door, etc. It can be done as others have proven with very small rear doors that don't take away from the design. Maybe even make the rear door have a handle inside the front door.... don't know if that makes sense.
Kind of like a lot of F150s did.

Lastly, I am definitely OK with electric front wheel drive AS LONG AS they keep the 5.0 Coyote, or the 5.2 as the standard main two V8s under the hood driving the rear wheels.
But the electric front wheel drive would have to be an option to add onto the base Mustang GT.
Hah, base mustang gt, I guess that is what a GTD turns out to be, built onto the base Mustang GT (sort of).

just my two cents, but either way, it will be fun to see how all of this evolves.

In the meantime, I'm loving that 2024 Mustang GT. It is turning into my wife's and mine turn to car for trips, etc now. The rear seats folded down can sure haul a lot of stuff on trips, junk hunts, etc.

My ONLY complaint, that stupid battery gets depleted way too fast if not driven for 30 miles or so every 3 days or so, ugh. I don't like losing my Mustang lights from the rear view mirrors on the ground, or stupid messages on the screen for battery saving or.... duh, utilize a more capable battery and charging method. OR at least have provided battery tender connections designed into the car to make it not be a hack job.... ugh.
ok off my soap box.

Still lovin it every day I can

John

Have no fear everyone! I'll take care of those dang Mach-4s so that y'all can enjoy the coupes for yourselves! (Unless of course, the Mach-4 gets cancelled, in which case I'll go back to the coupes in a heartbeat. 😅)
