Crossover is how much on one side of the frequency you want to hear. One side is just bass thump, while the other end of the spectrum is bass mixed with much more of the higher end (vocals, instruments, etc.)

If you want to really deep dive and have it explained better than I can do, I encourage you to read this article….it’s a good one!

(BTW, I just bought the last of the 2 Pioneer 10” subs amazon has ATM. And the adapter cables. Thanks all for doing all the research! I really wanted the 10” JBL subs, but would rather buy something I know fits with little modification.)

Amazon still has 10" Pioneer subwoofs for sale. Multiple sellers.
You are right! Amazon is weird. They said 2 left, and now I looked again and (from the same seller) it’s listed as just “in stock” with no quantity listed. I guess they found another box of them….lol.

So far I ordered the Pioneer 10” sub, the adapters, and the cool bar grill listed on post #39 here. I was going to order some of the poly fill, but I have some here already in the form of poly seat cushion fill. Looks exactly the same as the sheet fill, not the loose stuff.

I was going to keep the stock grill, but read a good point made that the sub does best when pushing air, and the stock grill is pretty restrictive. I also like the cool custom look it gives.

I’m really looking forward to the sound improvement. I don’t expect a massive difference, but anything is an improvement over the stock garbage sub speaker.

I just bought one from Amazon about an hour ago.

I bought the DD Redline before they sold out. It will kick nicely. The B&O system doesnt like compressed content like from Spotify or non HD stations. Volume needs to be up at least half. 50's 60's stuff suffers. The stock woofer is junk. The other speakers probably could be improved but what I have is good enough for my ears.

Nice!

Just a quick survey…how many here have/or plan to put poly fill in the sub enclosure?

I ordered some, but am not sure I will use it. Is heat a factor to worry about?

I guess at the least loosely packing the back of the enclosure can’t hurt?

I didn't use any polyphil. It might improve but I wasn't going to take the speaker out to try it and compair the difference. Sent the stuff back to scamazone.

I've never had a problem. But I vaguely remember someone saying not to block the vent in the rear of the speaker. You can go to a craft shop and get polyfill. They stuff blankets with it. I believe I got mine at Walmart. Make sure the box is air tight. You could silicone where the wood is screwed together. And use the 1/2 in gray sponge material with sticky stuff on it to seal the sub. When done push in the cone of the sun, if it comes back fast it's sealed and ready.

I ordered the polyphil because that's what everyone else was doing. Lol

I'm not even sure what the benefits are. Obviously it's summer time in Phoenix and I certianly don't want a heat problem. Is it absolutely necessary?

With the replacement sub you won't have much room for the fill. I doubt if you can tell the difference. The magnet almost touches the back of the cabinet. You can judge when you get into the mod.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback!

I read where if the sub box is vented, not to use poly fill. I haven’t taken my box out yet so I didn’t know. But Cucuru’ is saying there is a vent in the back, so I may rethink using poly. I also worry about heat build up. Apparently the speakers can get warm with use? I’d rather not make a fire hazard just for better sound if that’s the case.

If there are vents I do not want to block them. I’d rather play it safe than have heat build up in the box.

I don't think it will get too hot. Years ago I had an 18" system that would shut down real quick. I suspect heat. I replaced them with JL 10W6s and could blast all day. One thing I forgot was if yours are vented. With me it's almost 2nd nature to not use vented. Unless they're made that way. In my new GT I'm going to Cerwin-Vega spare wheel sub with amp. I have two I never used, and am going to install them.

Looks like it is vented in the back. The B&O system isn't any different between the DH and GT/Ecoboost.
