Amber DRL via forscan?

I’m available as well this weekend to test anything out.
It’s definitely a mod I’d like to have work out. It just looks different enough that think it’ll be worth it. LOL

there is no hardware or headlight offense between a standard Mustang and the GTD, the part numbers do work on either car. So it has to be a programming thing.

So, the hardware is there, the software is there, it's just a matter of finding the proper code to keep the turn signal "ON" that first step in the sequential function.

Maybe we have to figure out how to turn the white DRL off so the amber will "default" kinda like the white is a upper layer overriding. Maybe ? Maybe I'm crazy.

Good thought, but if that were the case, the turn signal would not show through while the while DRL/Postion light was on.
In one of the many settings we have tried, I found one where the white DRL and amber turn would be on at the same time. The white DRL is on, active the turn signal and you’d get all 3 lights to go amber, then it would be 2 amber and 1 white, then 2 white and 1 amber, then 3 white, and the process would repeat.
it’s trying to find the beginning of the turn signal sequence and keeping that on steady.

This means that I have to throw in new codes where 90% will not work before we can answer this

i tried a few more things to no luck, but still not giving up. i also put this together, a full chart of everything that has to do with the headlights, with the connections to the headlight itself mapped out

know how to do the amber DRLs? not likely. every other modern Ford is easy enough to get them working if they do exist, and the ones that dont are easy to say that they dont work. the Mustang is a weird middle case. for example, the new Ranger is about as old as the S650, but it already has custom headlights with amber DRLs on the market, because the Ranger does not share an indicator and DRL like the Mustang does

i did some more testing, as well as checked out the headlamp CAN. here is what i found

1. i took out the HCM, and the headlamps acted interestingly. once it was unplugged, they never changed from what they were doing just before then
2. i unplugged the left headlamp to do some CAN sniffing with a little thing i bought. interestingly, the little grill corner light stopped lighting up too
3. i discovered that US models do not have automatic headlamp leveling
4. the headlamp CAN has a baud rate of 500Kbps
5. here are some of the IDs i saw speaking over the bus: 062, 605, 604, 050, 077. 604 and 605 often just sent 8 bytes of all zero, but when 062 said "00 00 1B 5B 6B 80 00 00", i nearly cried because of such a touching message they sometimes mirrored it right back. 050 always sent 7 bytes instead of 8. 062's message converted to decimal reads "0, 0, 27, 91, 107, 128, 0, 0"
6. this little CAN sniffer i got only updates every 2 seconds. yikes
