I was concerned about quality and reliability when I first thought about a Mustang, but I took a punt on it and have been pleasantly surprised.
It's been easier to live with in functional terms than the Euros I had. It's only been back to the dealer for the water leak recall.
I no longer have palpitations because one panel gap is a millimetre more than another, I just go for a drive and feel better straight away.

Use to be part of Corvette Race Team, and believe me, panel alignments are not an issue as long as it was still on the car after a few laps. Concerning to us was issues that would get us Black Flagged :like:

A lot of the issues with the infotainment systems in new cars has to do with the iOS and different versions of Android OS that are constantly updating and causing there to be constant updates to apps. This also creates issues with you guessed it (Carplay and Android Auto). The auto manufacturers try to stay on top of these issues with updates to their systems as well but as with anything that syncs from outside of the auto manufacturers native systems is always going to create glitches.
Yes… and no.

The issue is with the entertainment systems, and car makers are just not set up to handle the same update rate as the tech industry, they're used to the "bring your car in and we'll refresh it with this year's software" model at best, though they are getting better.

The operating and app changes on devices do not cause the issue except they reveal bugs in the current implementation of CarPlay/AndroidAuto on the entertainment system.

So for example, if the entertainment system freezes, there's nothing Apple or Google can do about that, only the manufacturer of that device can.

My opinion is that Ford's Sync system is junk. I worked for Lexus for 11 years before coming to Ford, and NEVER had problems like these do. I think its just another example of "good enough" engineering from Ford.
I put a crakcase pressure sensor in a new, 1,000 mile Bronco last month and two days later, the light came back on with the same code. In the interim, there is a special service message now that says to tell the customer that its ok to drive (with a CEL on mind you) and there SHOULD be a fix by Q3 2026! And they think this ok for us to tell the customer.

Wow great advice and responses. I really am looking forward to getting my first Mustang after having owned six Corvettes and six Camaros over the years. I understand these are mass produced cars and do have small issues, but what I am concerned about are oil leaks from the factory that should not happen, or software glitches. I was in the IT field for a very long time, and there should not have some of the issues that I am reading about, beta testing should have revealed these on/off, reset issues. However, it is what it is, and I am just interested to know on my original post, what issues I noted are fixed and what issues SHOULD I EXPECT when taking delivery in late May. BUT Love the list of taking deliver, that checklist is very valuable during Delivery Day. THANKS EVERYONE for all your input and experiences.
I would definitely expect a few infotainment glitches/quirks here and there. Particularly when updates are performed. Ford's sync 4 is decent, but its definitely not the best. Im not sure how it compares to Chevy, but Ford's QC definitely doesn't have a great track record of late.

If you think Fords is junk, try VAG. Our Skoda constantly tries to connect to my wife's phone even though it's 15 metres away and mine's in the car. It drops out at certain locations in town, the Ford is rock solid. And, every now and then hers decides we don't need to see the map, or anything else.
The only one that was trouble free was her SEAT Arona, which uses the same system.
Go figure.

None of this is really new info if you've been hanging around here for much time. You should consider doing a forum search. 👍🏻

I work in service at a Ford dealer, and other than the panel fit issues, I have not seen any of the items on the list. YMMV
Do customers have recourse in these cases where panel fit is notably off? I've seen some fairly egregious examples of the front bumper not lining up with the hood - either there's a dip on one side, or the edge of the hood almost looks U-shaped against the top of the front bumper.

Here are three examples of 2026 models pulled from this site and two dealers - the hood does not line up correctly with the top-side of the front bumper:

The most obvious thing is to not take delivery until it's fixed.

Once it's yours, you can try to get it fixed under warranty, but there's no guarantee that will work.

Worst case, you may need to pay a body shop yourself to fix the alignment, with no promise that they can.

Exactly. We will do whatever we need to for it to fit right, adjustments will usually do the job. BUT, sometimes it requires body and paint work, and while you as the customer are entitled to have it fit right, I STRONGLY discourage going this route. If you are bothered by a small misalgment, you are going to hate a new car thats had the hood and front bumper painted, and both fenders blended to fix a 3mm misalignment. Without exception, everyone over the years who wanted it "right at any cost" was unhappy when we were done.
The juice ain't always worth the squeeze.

I've seen about 40 2026s now and at least 3 to 4 areas on each car had very poor fitting panels, paint drips, contamination and so on. I have a 26 myself and gave up with caring about it. I remember when the first s550s came out in late 2014 I had one of the very first ones and those had some very well documented poor fitment. I didn't think ford could get any worse then that but I was wrong the 650 is worse. Like mentioned you're better off accepting it or buying a different car. I don't think most people are buying a mustang and expecting a high quality built car even though for the price you'd think so.

I have a 2024 and knock wood I have no issues other than the reset to default for the displays after an update. Interesting as I also have a 2024 VW Atlas for wifey and I had oil and a display recall done at the VW dealer and I recieved an email with a short video showing the tech updating the software as well as a survey where one question was "were your settings, radio, etc all reset to how they were when the car was brought in for service. Yes they were!

Other than that I have the driver's side bumper to headlight small gap. I might fix it when weather warms up but maybe not. Barely noticable. Other panel gaps are very good and consistent. I will say the paint seems fragile for my color though but otherwise I am a happy camper.

Couple issues I noticed with my DH is a small ding just ahead of the passenger side mirror in an area that could not have been hit by anything, and the rear upper part of the passenger door is pushed up slightly, looks like it was pried, but the paint is perfect. Had it in last Friday for first oil change and service doesn't want to talk to me about it, said I need to go through sales dept. Not sure where this is going to go.

I absolutely LOVE my '24. 33rd car owned, 9th Mustang and it is my all time favorite of every car. There is not a single day that goes by that I wish I had bought something else.
Are there occasional noise and creaks? Probably. But the exhaust note is intoxicating and the drivability of the S650 platform is IMO the absolute best Ford has ever done. 21,000 problem free miles smiles for me.
And it gets stupidly decent gas mileage for a darn near 500hp to the wheels V8. I mean I bought it expecting to get terrible mileage... not 26-27mpg while cruising and 19-21mpg ripping around town/highway combined.
Freakin love this car.
