With any luck by then we will have had a new president that promoted fossil fuels exploration and recognized how awful EVs are for the environment. We need more efficient ICE vehicles, not EVs that need new battery packs every 6-8 years.

Little secret … the companies want EVs….Ford WANTS to make/sell EVs… they are pressuring the GOVT… to pressure the people.
The companies directly control this. They want you to believe that the government is forcing them… that’s not the case… they’re in control.

94-95 Mustang was unique
96-98 Mustang was unique (kind of- but even if you ignore motor change- 94-98 is unique)
05-09 Mustang was unique
I believe 10 was the only model year of updated design with 4.6
11-14 - only years with the 5.0 (but if you ignore motor change- then 10-14)

The 79-93 Fox Body and the 15-23 seem to be on the longer side of Mustang life cycles
But if you look at the S650 as just a modified S550 ...even then

79-84 unique
85 -86 unique
87-93 unique

and

15-17 unique
18-23 unique

I dont know the facts but I could see this- EV take less parts = easier to make- less people to pay in manufacturing - less parts to break under warranty = more profit

Or just using the Mach E as a cheeky way to introduce a hybrid mustang in order to skirt around government regulations. Never underestimate a manufacturers ability to skirt the law, just look at modern trucks and SUVs the pinnacle of skirting the law

And you have to replace a 30k battery or buy a new car. Convenient for the manufacturer.

Kinda what I expected. That's why Ford didn't invest heavily into a whole new platform this time. 5 year lifecycle is pretty good

That's not really going to be tha case for most EVs...Maybe somewhere down the line the battery has to be replaced but the batteries in older Tasla models are still doing better than the rest of their cars...

Anyhow, I don't want to further participate in a useless EV vs ICE discussion.

Starting in 2023 (former plan was 22) and going until 2028 is 6 years in my books... Almost 7 if we include 2022. Besides, almost all the rumors had it ending in 2029 or MY29 so...
I expect a refresh in 25 introduced by the then new GT500 successor. However, since the S650 is what it is I don't expect anything different from what we got with the older Gt500...
That car needs optional AWD badly...

I'm not sure how to feel about this. I love the excitement of ICE products, but I can also see the inherent performance potential of EVs. Not to mention the packaging flexibility of electric skateboards means you could make an electric mustang look spectacular.

With how easy it is to plop different body styles onto an electric platform, I could also see a future where Ford offers multiple mustang body styles being built on the same platform in flat rock. A coupe, sedan, and exotic supercar body all riding on the same platform to keep the price somewhat reasonable. I know that's a pipe dream, but it's a way to look at this thing somewhat optimistically.

Lol the government is just the puppet for big business. If you ever noticed the government does not bother top corporations but will echo their beliefs in the form of a bill or new law. And will spends billions of dollars to save a big corporation rather than save the people of our country. So the EV stuff is 100% the big business and the EPA people. The companies get the EV's to the level to where the gas engines were, then will bring back the gas engines after a 10 yr drought. They will make it look like the second coming of Jesus and people will flock to buy the cars regardless of the price. In the end its all about cash and making cash once you push all the fake garbage out the way. I hope the stang keeps going until 2029.
