I'm hoping that if nothing more is said about the "Mach-4" variant this year, the refresh is when it becomes the real deal. I'd also be a fan of an AWD GT coupe for the refresh, hybrid or not.

ford seems to be trying to do a 3 year thing, where they do 3 model years, refresh, 3 more model years, then new gen. taking the F-150 as an example, 2015 had a new gen, 2018 was a refresh, 2021 was a new gen, 2024 was a refresh. but also Ford has had some shorter runs like the weird 2022 Super Duty and the 2023 and 2024 Expedition, but also some longer runs like the 2018-2023 Mustang and 2020-2024 Explorer, with the biggest outlier being the Crown Vic which had it's 2003 refresh extend for 8 years to 2011. there's also no rule that a refresh has to be big, but it can be. compare the changes made from 2017 to 2018 on the Mustang to the changes made from 2024 to 2025 on the Explorer, and that to the changes made between the 2002 and 2003 Crown Victoria
But the last Mustang went 6 years before an update. So thats the current precedent. And with low sales and lack of competition, it doesnt seem like doing a 3 years refresh is needed. We'll see.

The original announcement was refresh in 2028 and S650 end in 2030

I'd rather have a dual clutch transmission than a hybrid setup.
I'm with you, I don't think a DCT is out of the realm is possibilities, especially with a new level trim that may be coming...

Yeah I remember this too back when they announced it. It was same time they announced no more GT500 model name in the Ford lineup, and Shelby confirmed it in a social media post.
I'm curious how long ago that was released.

i think a hybrid setup would need a new chassis entirely. i mean, you could in theory do an AWD one like the Corvette, but i remember some guy did an AWD conversion for his Mustang and it required modification of the oil pan to fit the differential and half shafts, among other mods. a RWD one might be a bit more possible, but there's still the issue of where to put the motor if you do it like an F-150 PowerBoost. there's also no real place for the hybird battery and electronics to charge and discharge and maintain it

2022 I beleive, maybe early 2023
Yeah that was a while ago. Im sure sales and competition have impacted that plan at least a little. Lets not forget the gen 7 mustang was originally planned for 2022.

My guess is refresh in '27 and a new gen pretty close to 2030. The refresh will offer new front and rear designs, but will probably also offer hybrid versions of the 5.0 and 2.3. My guess is the hybrid versions will essentially be s750 powertrains in an s650 body.

Brands do this, where they put a powertrain in a gen as it nears the end of its production cycle. This lets them iron out any quality issues on the powertrain side before it launches in the next gen, and lets them see what people like and don't like about it.

My guess is s750 is exclusively hybrid, but that's reasonable and not a turn off if that's what it takes to keep the V8 alive in 2030 and beyond.

It'll be really interesting to see how a mustang sedan will tie into the coupe getting a refresh and new gen. I personally believe if the sedan needs a lot of new sheet metal, if you need to spend the money to invest in a mostly new body, Ford may as well make the mustang sedan look like its own thing, instead of a stretched s650.

So if the sedan has its own design language, maybe Ford will launch it, and a refreshed coupe around the same time to freshen up the mustang. If the styling of the sedan is well received, maybe it can influence the styling direction of the next gen coupe as well.
