You do want to be....mildly careful with it. It's called polish for a reason. It is not a pure paint sealant - it actually has mild abrasives in it so when you are putting it on it is actually abrading your clear-coat which is partly why the polishing effect is so effective. It's a bit of a...
Very true, but this isn't even that. The base cost of the car does not go down when you choose a subscription. Its the worst of both worlds. Your paying for it AND then paying more through a subscription to use it.
Just a lame old S550 GT500. I do however, enjoy using physical maps still despite being a millennial :)
Either way, my point stands. We are too accepting of being taken advantage of as long as we don't perceive it that way.
The point isn't that features add cost.
Its the fact that people are already rationalizing a manufacturer not forcing you into paying for something you already have, as a "win". That's a loss. A HUGE one. I wasn't even aware the subscription model had become so prevalent that people were...
Well...they add to the base cost of the car. Or in the case of many manufacturers, you can still select them as an add-on package. You are not "getting them for free".
While I respect the intent of the sentiment...saying we are lucky because a bunch of technology convenience features that add cost to our cars that we are already paying for, are NOT subscription based is like saying "man that guy who mugged me was great, he didn't even stab me this time!!"
I mean it makes sense in a strictly monetary context. Early-Millennials and Late Gen-X are all entering their peak earning capacity at the moment based on age-demographics. I wouldn't want any of these cars though at this price point.
Consider the fact it cost only 75k in the form of a GT500 in 2020 (106k is not the track package) and it sure seems like a bad deal. Variable traction control, Cup 2 Rs and a Raptor R pulley are not worth 30k.
A lot of people are starting to avoid newer tech due to complexity and / or ongoing and increasing privacy concerns. I would straight up refuse to buy a car with those types of systems in them unless I could figure out how to disable it all. Under the assumption a mandated kill switch was...
Troll or not, the amount of people in here who appear to be dismissive is absurd. It's not hard to verify this stuff. He's not totally nuts. I've been following this for years.
The actual congressional directive to NHSTA:
“Not later than 3 years after the date of enactment of this Act, the...
People have unrealistic expectations of what they should be able to have. Plenty of "younger people" might find a car like this cool and aspirational despite its cost. I find many cars I cannot afford cool, awesome, and somewhat aspirational. I do not necessarily expect to be able to buy one.
The track package is going to be 155-160k after sales tax and fees and that assumes no other options are added.
Total that is 40k more, than a GT500 Track Pack at their peak pricing with all options. No ADM included. ....about 10k of this I could rationalize away as the CCB system.
The first...
People are willing to say they will pay large ADMs, but then back out of deals. Happens all the time. Some dealers threaten one just to see if you're serious, since many people are not. Some will mark up the car more if you want a "weird" color since it becomes harder to sell in their eyes.
I...
Seriously....no updates is exactly what you want. Ideally you would simply never even have a design that relied on them at all. I work in an industry where a single bug update can cost 10's of millions; I actually suppress the updates in all the vehicles I have by just disconnecting the cellular...
There is. It just requires a bit more IT expertise, effort (and what people would now consider "personal sacrifice" via the loss of some convenience) than most people are willing to learn/expend. I think people have different thresholds for what they consider "private".
Sure there are laws that...
