They’re all just parts bin Mustangs with different badges on them right… lol
Same as a Porsche 911 with 14 different models
Oh come on now. Im just pointing out that saying a GT350 is just an upgraded GT and a Dark Horse somehow isnt is a bit silly. At least those 911s dont all have the same engine. 😉

I appreciate everyone’s insights. Bottom line, in 2026, if I want a new Shelby, the GT350 is my choice or the SS. Not the cheapest option vs others, but a darn nice car, never the less. I agree, in general terms they are all the same.

Life is short. Drive the car you like. Like the Mach guys before them, some Dark Horse owners tend to be easily chafed on here lol.

Just dont forget about the Tremec. If im comparing two cars in that price range, that should be a major consideration. 👍🏻😎

Chafed? Really?
C'mon! I feel like that's maybe just a slight exaggeration. I mean, for me it's actually, dare I say, amusing listening to the GT vs DH argument day in and day out. (That horse apparently has no plans to die regardless of how badly it gets beat!)

At least we can agree that life is short and you should drive whatever makes you happy!
For whatever reason you use to justify it.

To the OP:
If you don't mind spending the money, can afford it, and it's what you want/like, it doesn't matter what it is, how it compares to anything else, or what anyone else thinks.
If I could afford it, there would be a Shelby sitting in my garage. Dead guy's name on it or not.
So get the car you want, come back bearing lots of photos, and let us all know how great it is!

I'm totally offended you would call my S550 GT350R a ticking time bomb on the S650 forums : P

I'm on social media telling everyone about it right now because all the strangers who have never met me totally care because I'm the most important person in the world 🤪

75K? A new Whippled DH HP has to run what 85-90ish? The GT350 starts at 125k. I agree its absolutely over priced for what it is, but where are you guys getting 40-75k in savings from?
LOL I was making up numbers/being sarcastic....I think its closer to 25K

Isn't a Dark Horse an upgraded GT with badges? Unless you are getting the Tremec with HP Id definitely say so.
Badges?... we don't need no stinking badges.

One thing I would point out is that if you are changing the wheels anyway, I wouldn't opt for the Handling Package on the DH. At that point you are just paying for stiffer springs and bigger sway bars, all of which can be upgraded in the aftermarket (Steeda) with better results for roughly the same expense.
Good point but I’ll add another perspective. I just finished the Wheelhouse (Ford Performance/Racing) 2 day & Advanced 1 day schools. They use stock DHs with stock 19” HP wheels & Michelin PS4’s. The car handled & braked like a dream. I drove as hard as I could & the car took it. With my problems losing cruise control & pre-collision assist by changing to 20” wheels, I recommend staying with the stock HP setup & wheels. Less hassle & expense. Unless you’re a professional driver, you’ll never notice the difference. And, no warranty issues.

Just turn on traction control and your cruise control should work again.
I’m running 315/35r20 an 285/35r20
And it works

Wait. Do you mean turn off traction control? I have it on already. It comes on automatically when I start the car.
Sorry to hijack the thread with my issue well documented by my previous whinings. But if something this simple puts an end to my agony, then I have to pursue it. Plus, as noted above, it is all about me & everyone cares about me & my problems. 😂

What a selfish prick! lol kidding
I always have my traction control off in my custom mode. So for a long time I thought the wheel diameter was the issue until a few weeks ago I turned on traction control and adaptive cruise works .
Maybe you have another issue but I don’t think it’s diameter of tire.

Thanks for the info. I’ll pass it on to the dealer when I take it in. In the meantime, I’ll try cycling my traction control on & off to see if it makes a difference.
Now, back to your previously posted program.

Can I ask what neighborhood that set up set you back for?

To be fair Its been like that since the late 60s. And while I wont defend the current products, historically there has been a little more to it than a dead guys name.
I live in Canada so can't really compare to US prices. Plus with tariffs and duties. In Canadian dollars the cars MSRP was $93K Axles $4K supercharger $15K. Now a Dark Horse SC up here would be well over $200K.
