I'm not going on about anything, you're the one going on about the price when the Corvette and Mustang have gone up the same percentage since before covid lmao

Inflation sucks.
Yeah, inflation does suck, and what I've mentioned multiple times in this thread alone is that the Mustang is increasing in price MUCH greater than inflation AND is increasing in price more than the industry in general since the beginning of our inflationary period. That's the whole point of the discussion.

If the M2 didn't look busted I'd probably be in one by now. Absurd to think it's the bargain of the two these days.
I can handle it in black, but every other color makes it look like it was made out of Legos to me.

You can't be serious. You compare base to base. If you're comparing top of the line to base, you could also say a civic is more expensive than a mustang.
I'm comparing what I could buy for my $.

If that means the top of the line to a base, then that's what it is. Just like I would never buy a $45k FWD Civic "top of the line" Type R trim over a 2025 Mustang GT Premium GT Performance Package.

Not that I would ever buy a standard Mustang GT, but the principle is still the same.

This is a fact - is there actually a debate about this?

It's gone up from $36k in 2018 to 45k in 2025.

Have you ever been grocery shopping? Lol

Yeah… the proportions are genuinely nice, but the black hides all of the details, ie the BMW-ness. It’s like dating a bombshell butterface and having her rock sweats and a paper bag.

I would say $36k from 2018 to 45k for 2025 is inflation. Been to the grocery store lately?

Just curious, as a quick off tangent, was there a generation of M3 that was universally loved by people? When I was younger I thought it was the E36 and possibly E46 gens, but now I'm thinking it's the E30...am I mistaken?

That would definitely be the 2000-2006 E46 generation. It was light, nimble and the S54 engine made 333 N/A horsepower at 8,000rpm.

The Corvette didn't get anything new at all since 2020. C8 came out in 2019. So nothing at all. And it rose more percentage wise than a new model mustang that came out after covid.
It’s been getting suspensions tweaks and small engine tweaks while also getting new colors and options every year. As well as new trims. You can see it on car and driver every single year, like it’s literally right there. If you want another comparison, the Supra gets a price bump every year but they’ve added something new with each year as well. If there’s a price bump, there should be something changing positively to complement it. Otherwise, why would a consumer want the new car if the old car is exactly the same?

Again, nobody cares what it cost in 2018 when inflation was 1.9%. The inflationary period that affected everything was mainly 2021 and 2022 when inflation rates were 7% and 6.5% respectively, and the price of a Mustang GT has outpaced inflation, period. Additionally, the price isn't really 45K since the actual MSRP includes destination, so the real lowest MSRP you can possibly get for a 2024 GT is $47,750.

EDIT: The bigger issue to me isn't the base price, it's the price creep associated with cars that have a handful of options on them and/or Dark Horse models. Ford's price increases mean that the Mustang can be directly priced in the range of cars like the M2, M3, and Corvette, which isn't good for the brand, IMO. I'm a Mustang enthusiast and I want to see the brand grow and be successful. Pricing your car into a new level of competition is simply going to drive some customers away. Ford needs to be thinking of ways to get people into the brand instead of pushing them to the competition.

That's not how inflation works. Inflation means the dollar loses value for the same product. Hence why the same groceries cost more. They didn't start adding more food in the groceries.

The price increase on this year is more than inflation

Another thing people aren’t realizing is if you read the order guide pdf, there’s actually a suggested dealer price from Ford themselves which is substantially higher than the MSRP.

You're out of your mind if you think inflation is only 6 percent. I went to 2018 because you were comparing the Corvette and Mustang and that's when they both had the last model.

MSRP doesn't include destination etc in any vehicle. So add two thousand to every vehicle.

I don't know what to tell you, Ford isn't going to lower the price for you. I got mine and I'm extremely happy. If you want a different car, by all means go purchase that vehicle.
