You said your car was a 2034 model. He was just making a joke. Relax.

The quite starts on these cars are not very quite. As mentioned you cant really hear a big difference until the initial fast idle kicks down.

Now that I have an H pipe, cold starts are noticeably louder in quiet mode than they were when the exhaust was stock. Cold starts in normal mode are much louder, though, which means quiet mode still "works."

I have my 2034 mustang set up for quoit start in the morning. The settings say it is activated and the hours are correct. It doesn't work. The Mustang is the same loudness as usual. How do I activate quiet start or is it vapor ware?
Allow me to give you something that MIGHT be useful. Sometime back there was an issue with active exhaust cars where they were not respecting the quiet start setting, my car was one such car. Ford issued TSB 24-2047. I know the issue I am outlining below says when a car was started remotely but I had the same issue when starting with the button. TSB, mostly fixed my issue.

The Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) issued by Ford to fix the active exhaust quiet start issue on S650 Mustangs is TSB 24-2047.

The Issue
Owners of 2024+ S650 Mustangs equipped with the active valve performance exhaust found that the vehicle would ignore the scheduled "Quiet Start" time windows. The car would instead default to a loud "Normal" cold start, particularly when using the remote start feature.

The Fix
The bulletin specifies that the issue is software-related, where a glitch causes the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to fail to recognize the quiet start parameters upon startup.
  • The Remedy: A dealership technician must perform a PCM software reprogram using Ford's diagnostic system to update the module.
  • Cost: This repair is covered under Ford's factory 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
If you are dealing with this bug, you can schedule an appointment with your local Ford dealer and reference TSB 24-2047 so they can quickly look up the bulletin and flash the update.
