May as well get a thread started… a s650 on facebook pulled both traps, no check engine lights or any
B.s.

Picked up 4 tenths and 3-4MPH on 1/4 runs with dragy logs
Shaved a full second 60-130 from 12.3 to 11.2
This was a Mt82 manual car.

Hopefully we see
Some dyno vids or something in the future.
Not my car FYI and I don’t want to put his name out there but it’s on the S650 page.

Pretty substantial gains!

Dh or gt? It has been said that the extra ponies in the dh are strictly from the tune. Is this the ‘missing’ component?

the carbon traps will most likely be there on all V8 models (as it was for the S550 22+)

60-130 1 second quicker is quite substantial in relation( I have seen the dragy postings)

It’s called emissions control. You want Ford to build and sell the car this is what you get. Don’t like it. Don’t buy the car or remove them. Easy peasy.

Is the carbon trap in the main intake plenum upstream of the throttle body? Will the S650 have 2 of these? Just looking at that thing all I see is airflow restriction. Is there any other reason it is there besides emission control? If not, I'm taking that joker off!

And apple called it performance throttling.

Did you checkout Kelly’s FB page? Your answers are there. It’s just for emissions. If you’re OK polluting the planet go ahead and pull them out. :cwl:

I don't have FB. Deleted it 10 years ago and never looked back.

How much pollution are we really talking about anyway? A few vapors after the engine shuts off? I'm sure there is more released when I gas up my car anyway. I will still sleep at night.

If I can see through it it ain’t capturing anything.

The DH has the traps as well, so pulling them could net a gain there, the DH is still going to make more power.

I wouldn't expect as large of a gain pulling the carbon traps on a dual intake as say the 22-23 Mach 1s, as having 2 vs 1 was already less restrictive. I saw someone do a before and after dyno on a 24 GT pulling them and showed no noticeable improvement, hopefully we see more comparisons coming up.
