All depends how much you want to spend. I have a gas Generac that's been severely neglected I've had for like 8 years and it fires up every time, works great. I went down the rabbit hole for electric units because I'm sick of the noise, shutting down and restarting between foaming and rinsing.

Basically you ignore PSI and want at least 2 GPM flow rate. Days of reading and watching reviews, sounds like a Kranzle K1322TS is the best you can get electric wise for car detailing without absolutely needing dedicated 20A outlets, they say it can spike past 15A draw with foam cannons but a wider orifice on the cannon should help with that. I plan on getting one at some point. Kranzles are over engineered and built to last with proper maintenance which they design to be easy.

I got the Ryobi 1200 PSI 1.8 GPM Cold Water Automotive High Flow Electric Pressure Washer Kit last year and have been very happy with it. It's routinely rated as one of the top budget friendly power washers. Typically on sale for $150 at local retailers.

I have the same one, it's perfect for the car and small jobs around the house. It's currently $169 at HD.

Can you hook up a foam cannon to it?

I’ve used a Karcher K4 for the last 8 years, has been pretty good and wasn’t expensive, not amazing but fine for a weekly wash. The lance recently gave up so I replaced it with an MTM Hydro SGS35 stubby trigger and PF22 foam lance, absolutely brilliant and much easier to manipulate than the long Karcher spray gun with not more tangling - wish I’d gotten it years sooner.

After burning through an expensive gas PW, I picked up a Craftsman 1900psi electric a couple years ago. I believe it was under $150 at the time.
Not too strong for the paint when washing cars. Drives the foam cannon. Works well on patio furniture and spot cleaning. Not strong enough for big sidewalk jobs.

Active 2.0. Really good flow, and Obsessed Garage endorsed a few years ago.

I've had two karchers and I'm done with them. The bloody hose tangles if you so much as look at it.
Drives me nuts. It's a really bad design, the hose needs a high pressure ball joint at the gun.
I might go Stihl next time.

Do what I did recently, buy a separate stubby trigger, it has a rotating joint so no more tangles!

I use my Karcher HD5/12, the hose is tangle resistant and the gust of wind from the water pressure is good for pushing stuff away but I don’t foam cannon so can’t comment on that. They do sell the part for it.
