Have you considered going back to the dealer/shop that did your fuel tanks? If the side to side difference/alignment is off and they caused it during the fuel tank project the work and cost of putting it right should be on them.

Good luck getting it sorted to your satisfaction!

Yeah I considered asking the dealer I’ll give them a call tomorrow. I just thought the sleeves might be needed down the road anyway when I lower it but cost savings would be nice if they can get the adjustment as is.

the finger test would be to go to one side of the car and see extend 3 fingers out or maybe only 2 and see how far they go in between the tire and the quarter panel at the 3 or 9 O'clock position, then go to the other side and put your fingers in the same spot and see if the spacing is the same.

If it is really way off, you will see it by eyeball.

They should be the same and that is an indication the rear end does not have on wheel further forward or back from another, or what we call short wheel base.

If one wheel is in a different position than the other it would show up on an wheel alignment printout as the thrust angle being out of spec

Oh okay. Yeah left is definitely further out. It’s extremely apparent. I will be seeing if the dealer can fix this subframe problem.

one side may be further out but you need to know if it is just shifted or it is twisted

If it is twisted the car will "crab" going down the road.

If the spacing between the tire and a body panel is not equal it is crabbing

10/4 I will take care of that in the morning. Is one worse than the other or something?

Doubtful the dealer caused it. Besides its unlikely to prove. Subframe alignment has been an issue on these cars for years from the factory.

I read a bunch of posts on mustang 6g that are the polar opposite of your statement.

You are going down the rabbit hole here. More than likely its just camber. When you get the wheels out to the fenders its VERY easy to notice .5⁰ of camber. Get it on an alignment rack before you start swimming upstream bud.

Oh and most chain shops aren't even aware the rear camber is adjustable on these cars (S550 and S650). I had to argue with two techs over it and showed them the technical print out of how to do it. 🙄

Which part? The tank or commonality of subframe misalignment? I became aware of the subframe issues on the 6G forum. Lots of people got the alignment kit to correct it.

10/4 I will be following up on that. So could I stay within limits on stock rear end and fix this?

Holy crap I read your post wrong. I thought you said subframe alignment HASN'T been an issue on these cars. So would it be possible to fix the car as is? Or would you go ahead and just get this alignment kit.
