Since I do not change my own oil... I leave it up to the dealer personnel. While this may sound an alarm for some, I don't as I read on the repair invoice the exact part numbers they used. In every case it is the premium 'performance' one.

By the way, I don't believe it storing vehicles, especially so when they're just left to rot until spring. When you do, the results can be rather spectacular.

I suspect that the only difference between the two is the price.

What came on the car from the factory? Use that.

Edit: I see now that part of your punctuation-free question was what did we use? I used the regular oil filter.

My first choice: Mobil One filters, number 2, Motorcraft Filters. Look at the Beta ratings on filters, they can be tricky to understand so I suggest you dig into it. There are some very decent articles out there. Some manufacturers, I believe, are purposely secretive about their Beta numbers. The info is out there. BTW, Champion Laboratories makes about 50-60% of all the filters out there. You'd be amazed.

Those white Ford filters 'flow more' while 'filtering slightly less', but I haven't seen any actual data.

I use the recommended Motorcraft FL-500-S.

Unless told otherwise, I'll assume you're referring to the Ford Racing High Performance Filter CM-6731-FL820 which is superior to the Motorcraft FL-500-S. The Ford Racing filter gets discussed from time to time. Most wanting to know if it will work/fit. I've never seen anyone answer the "will it fit question" so I will......

Ford Racing High Performance Filter CM-6731-FL820 will not fit 4-Gen. 5.0 Coyote engines found in 7-Gen Mustangs due to diameter - It's to big.

Short of an oil filter relocation it's a no go.

I would not recommend K&N.

Ford Racing filter DOES fit. On my 3rd oil change with the CM-6731-FL820. 2025 GT.

I second the motorcraft FL-500-s. Not sure about any performance filters. Im not sure about KN. Motorcraft has pretty good oil and filters.

The Motorcraft filters have taken a quality dive recently. Trying to find the video/post about it. Crappy glue inside etc.
Do you think the glue would dissolve? And if, is that concerning considering the amount of glue? Makes me a bit worried too.

I use the Motorcraft filter (white one) although I choose not to use the 500a as it is huge compared to what my DH left the factory with. So I use the Motorcraft one same diameter as what it rolled home with. Just got it home from a fresh service moments ago.
