Description
On your vehicle, it is possible for water to enter the bcm, leading to corrosion in the bcm.

Safety Risk
When water intrusion into the bcm causes loss of communication with exterior lighting components, signal lamps that are required to be activated with low beams front and rear side marker lamps, taillamps, and license plate lamps are not activated. In addition, water intrusion into the bcm could cause the side marker and taillamp functions to flicker and not be steady burning.

Remedy
Parts are not available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available 1ST quarter of 2026.

Mine is a 2025MY Job-1 GT 400a

I'm definitely well aware. Finally, after one year, she is on a d*** train to the dealership. So I could pick her up. But now this recall has put a stop sale. The dealership is in another state.Because the local dealerships couldn't get the order through in time. And it's in another state that has blizzards, the same as us. So by the time I get her, i'm going to have a hundred thousand dollar garage decor without being able to drive her for at least five months. Someone just give me a bottle of caulk, and I'll fix it myself. I ordered her on july 23, 2024r. I'm nearly at my witts end. If I believed in fate or anything like it, I would swear God does not want me to have this car.

Apparently Ford's "seam sealer robots" haven't improved since I purchased my 2003 GT vert. Had a leak that would soak the rear passenger side floor. Nothing wet above. Long story short removing the seats and carpet and running water over the car showed that water running down the inside frame rails, never made it to the rear drain holes in the car due to seam sealer missing between the floor pan and the frame rails so the water would never make it to the rear of the car but puddle in the rear passenger side floor pan... Bought some seam sealer from Ford, in stock BTW, gee makes me wonder, sealed everything and no more issues. Sad to see these type of defects are still a problem.

I ordered my 2025 Dark Horse with the handling package back in November 2024 and it took almost ten months for it to get delivered to the dealer. It finally arrived last week, but now, I can’t close the deal and take possession due to this recall. So, it is sitting at the dealer’s parking lot and apparently it will be sitting there for another six months. The dealer lets me come to visit it, touch it, caress it, sit in it, turn over the engine, rev it a little, but won’t let me drive it. It feels like having conjugal visits in a prison. This sux.
Wouldn't it be like a non conjugal visit? The car version of phone sex?

I have a 2015 50th that supposedly sat on the lot in Flat Rock for a bit. Lots of vehicles went to Roush to fix leaks.
My car was delivered on Christmas Eve with a half inch hole in the right side roof rail seam.

Finally got some Dark White Cabinet Door Putty that blends in. Have never felt any Water Intrusion anywhere, but you never know!

What a shit show. So no new Mustangs can be sold and no fix can be implemented for another 5 months for a problem that can be fixed with a tube of silicone caulk sealer?

What am I missing here?

From what I know, take out the passenger kick panel, remove box, open it up and look for corrosion. Then close it up and seal every spot that looks like a potential problem.

But anything you do yourself might interfere with Ford’s upcoming inspection and fix. If there’s any corrosion you’ll get a new BCM under warranty Recall.

Yeah pretty much lmao the wait time for this is insane. My new Mustang is literally stuck at the dealership since these came out before I was able to pick it up

That sucks…for an issue over 20 years old. Ford literally had over 20 years to figure out how to do this right.

I don't recall this ever being a problem on the S550s. So saying it's a 20 yo issues isn't entirely accurate.

It was a fairly common issue with S197s with the worst result being constant battery drain and inability to start, among what other random issues popped up. So it is technically a 20 year old issue, but as you say…an intermittent one.

But….It’s also an issue that can pop up 1 year or 10 years into ownership.

There are a number of youtube videos showing people pulling badly water damaged BCM modules out of the passenger footwell in S197’s.

(I know this part is speculation, but who’s to say their 2018 Mustang won’t develop a corroded BCM at some point?)
