Exactly what the title says. Wait for New Dark Horse $66,000 or 2020 GT 350 with 14,000 miles for 70,000?

GT350

I was going to do 23 Mach 1, but the price was too much for me to manage.

You have to appreciate just how BAD the gt350 is.

no torque, painfully slow, revs ALL day long.
They look good but DH>MACH 1>GT>GT350>EcoBoost

this might be the dumbest thing that I’ve seen on this site yet.

firstly, your experience with a DH is..what? Then a Mach 1 and a GT are better than a 350? 😂😂😂 OKkkk

To me, the Shelby’s are special cars..the DH not so much. I’m not just hating on the car either. I think the DH looks great and should bring a ton of joy to the future owners, but it just isn’t the same as a Shelby imo. The DH is a dressed up Mustang GT at the end of the day. I mean the thing barely has more power than a regular GT for crying out loud. 😅

go for the Dark Horse. less expensive, newer tech, infinitely more reliable and proven engine, same great Tremec TR3160 in both, and you're only losing 750rpm off the redline but you have a more usable power and torque curve (probably).

All excellent points. I had shopped for a GT350 myself, prior to making the decision of getting a new car. In addition to what you’ve listed, I couldn’t get over the fact of not having the updated gauge cluster (like the gt500’s have for example). The interior is just a bit too antiquated for me. Those motors do sound amazing though. 💔

Given the choice of having to pick between these two…unless you got a killer deal of a pristine Gt350..I’d personally go new DH.

yeah, sadly it seems the sound of the Voodoo is about all it has going for it. ive seen a few GT350s come in for new engines, but i really couldnt tell you what caused their failure. Most of them have been warranty and because they're hand-built, Ford really hates the idea of a tech tearing down a warranty hand-built engine, they say to not do so and just send the old engine back. of the ones i have heard about the failure, its been mostly dropped valves, both Gen 1 and Gen 2. bonus fact: Ford considers burning a quart of oil every 500 miles "normal" for a Voodoo

Yeah, ik a few guys on youtube have had to have the GT350 motors repaired/replaced lol. So it seems to be the case. The one guy actually slapped a supercharger on his (replaced motor) and it seems he has had no issues so far.

A quart every 500 miles on a car like that seems a bit insane to me.

How is it slow when you compare performance numbers to other cars? How can a car be slow and fast at the same time? Is 4.2 seconds to 60 slow now?

I hate you just because you have a GT500. I rented one while in AZ - awesome car. The DCT impressed (I'm a manual guy) and they car sounded and, handled great. If I had one complaint it would be that it did its job too well. It always felt controllable and would rarely want to spin the tires.

I don't know if we can put reliability down for DH yet. Supposedly production delays were due to the dual intake on that new 5.0. You will have a warranty sure but if I had to jump in now and couldn't give S650 a year to work out some kinks, I would go with a third option...a 22 or 23 new Mach 1 on a lot. No way you can't get a deal on one of those right now with DH about to drop. I have known too many people that have had GT350 issues to jump into one of those used at this point.
