Is Ford Cancelling or Refreshing the 2027 Mustang?!

I think that the S650 will continue on, but the Darkhorse will end with the DHSC. There had been a rumor that the DH was only going to be a 2 year run.

Will 2027 see a different style of special Mustang?

It wouldn't surprise me. Traditionally they make a new specialty version of the Mustang every 2-3 years. And it just doesnt seem like the DH has sold well. Couple that the DHSC coming out...

I have no idea whether Ford will actually do this, but I think a 4-door Mustang would be very appealing to families who want something with more passenger room.

It will still be there in the car - may or may not be active / have a switch

It is required for almost the whole world now and it only takes a swap of government in the US for it to come back.

For the next gen I would be amazed if they don't fit an ISG system which is simpler and uses less parts than on the current car.

It’s called the ignition button/switch, retraining begins with government dictate.

DH is already on its 3rd model year, it may make it into its 4th.
From what I can tell/ response from dealer is that the DHSC is the MY27 update and that the next update is going to be announced summer '27. For late 27 production.

Guess we'll see soon enough if the vin codes increment

I wouldn't mind if the DH doesn't return for MY27. Maybe that will increase the value of us DH owners a bit.

Yes, some of those would still move to SUVs, but a 4-door option would be very tempting for those who really love their Mustangs.

The D2C will never have enough rear legroom for a 4 door plus it is going to end up a 5m plus car. There is just far too much out front for a 4 door car type car.

Ford have not been anywhere near that sort of thing, other than the Chinese only market current Fusion, for quite some time.

It is OK having artist impressions etc but you need at least 20cm if not 30cm more in the wheelbase to give the rear any legroom at all.

As a mid engined 2-seater the Vette is way further away from a 4-door sedan than the Mustang. But GM came close to a 4-door Camaro (direct competitor to the Mustang) with the Cadillac CT4V Blackwing. If they had put an NA V8 in that car instead of a turbo V6, it would essentially have been a 4-door Camaro.

Well, if that's truly the case then it would indeed have to wait until the next Mustang generation. My comments relate to the appeal of such a car (regardless of what hoops Ford would need to jump through to get there).

Check Facebook Market Place. There are many used 2024-2025 Mustangs for sale to include low-mile Dark Horses. Add those to all the 2025-2026 models on dealer lots and it looks like the Mustang maybe in trouble. Add to that the stop-sales and recalls. Ford is into the BRONCO ,F-150, AND the Explorer. Younger guys and girls are buying trucks and SUV'S. The younger set with limited finances are buying used foreign stuff with front wheel drive. The market for a Mustang is suffering. I'm sure Ford is studying this picture....
A four-door Mustang will cost as much as a BMW...not a young family choice vehicle.
