Turns out that line activates the passenger side ejection seat . . .Oh! Glad I did not change it already. It might have turned off my electronic speed limiter or something . . .

Underground garages are addictive, track mode and throttled howl but then the mellow sounds of butterfly v8 ….Quiet mode physically closes two of the 4 muffler (paths) directing the complete flow through the more dampening mufflers.
So whatever ESE does inside (I cannot check anymore), outside it is way more quiet.
Strange enough: at low RPM/idle it sounds more V8 than in other modes.
I can tell as I have my car in a large underground garage and drive out with top down often in summer, depending on the time in quiet or in normal.
how does quiet mode work?

Thx but was wondering in relation to electronic noise / feedback control.Zig,
There is a video in the Meh thread about how the valves work in Quiet mode.
You can install Windows for free on a separate partition on your MAC with bootcamp IF you have an older MAC. It's no longer supported though so I can't do it on my new one. Alternatively, a sub $200 windows tablet would get it done as well.Forscan should make this work with MacBooks . . . .

I have not measured or tried to "quantify" what exactly is going on with ESE, nor even tried disabling it (yet). I would guess it changes with the modes... it may reduce or shut off completely or give a completely different "complimentary tone" to enhance the quiet mode.Wouldn’t that mean the modified exhaust (real noise) would either conflict or be evident with each modification? Since it doesn’t change it would stick out like a sore thumb.

Personally if i’m doing stereo i’m not using their equipment, maybe their holes but not their heads drivers eqs amps nor speakers and well maybe not even wire but then again ….I have not measured or tried to "quantify" what exactly is going on with ESE, nor even tried disabling it (yet). As far as modified exhaust, not sure that it would conflict unless you try with ESE enabled or disabled to tell the difference. Though a modified exhaust is going to be evident over stock... (of course!).
I am far from an expert on this... there is plenty of info out there... Some people seem offended that it is on their Mustang, but it is a very common feature on many cars of all types and brands. I am not bothered by it so I may one day try it disabled to better understand it... or I may "have to" if installing a stereo system.
Because it is more unnecessary noise in the cabin, when maybe I want to listen to two British guys discussing the finer points of Martel "The Hammer's" defeat of the Umayyad Caliphate at the Battle of Tours in 732, halting the muslim advance into Europe, and how it lead to the muslim empire's inevitable defeat in Western Europe over time in a period known as Reconquista. Sometimes they do not speak as loudly or clearly, and it is difficult to hear in a noisy car.Does your car sound good with the windows rolled down? If so, what does it matter if Ford adjusts the sound you hear inside the vehicle (unless you hate the way it sounds)? These cars sound great, in my opinion, so I don't think it's any type of shame to have noise cancelling or amplification inside the cabin.
Regardless of any active sound enhancements…let’s take that out of the equation for a moment….Because it is more unnecessary noise in the cabin, when maybe I want to listen to two British guys discussing the finer points of Martel "The Hammer's" defeat of the Umayyad Caliphate at the Battle of Tours in 732, halting the muslim advance into Europe, and how it lead to the muslim empire's inevitable defeat in Western Europe over time in a period known as Reconquista.
