Hi all checked my mustang tonight and I'm going to try Acoustic Insulation. I posted pictures;
It has an adhesive on it, but I'm going to still use JB weld around the perimeter of it. The insulation is very pliable and tough. the piece I'm using is; 5x7 and I can mold it to the hole. I'll be getting the JB Tomorrow and will put it on and I'll let it cure until the weekend. I can also turn the tire to give me more room. I'll post pics after it is finished.
What would you all suggest to use to clean the wheel with prior to sticking it on?

I wonder how eternabond used by RVers to seal seams and patch roofs would work? 2 pieces one the size of the hole stuck sticky side to sticky side of a larger piece to stick it to the tire well. Similar to the rubber or acoustic materials previously mentioned.

Apologies for reviving an ancient thread with my first post. Also...hello :)

I've just purchased an ex demo 2024 and found out about this topic and am well on the way to finding out what I need to do to fix Fords issue.

I get the part about blocking off the holes but what I'm struggling with is what I need to do to make sure all the debris is thoroughly removed.

In TUnica's first video on the topic he mentioned there were stones halfway down the car, behind seams etc. What extent have people been going to, to make sure all the debris has been removed?

I saw one post (that I since haven't been able to find) that suggested as far as taking off the side skirts and all the under trays as well.

Also I take it any damaged paint would need to be touched up? I have a fair bit of impact damage down to bare metal and car has only done 2000 kms.

Also, I'm from Australia and not sure if DIYvan ships to here unfortunately.

Cheers for any and all replies :)

There is no easy or shortcut way. Remove the side skirts. Treat surface rust with a neutralizer prime and repaint.
If DIYvan doesn't ship you can replace the innerfenders with the new Ford part that doesn't have the holes.

I didn't bother. The car was new, the holes were clean inside, so I just blanked them off.

I used a couple of oven liner sheets (they black vinyl like sheet) & cut them to suit & used trim clips ( had to drill a couple more holes to fit more clips)..

I got a set of covers for the holes that were printed and worked great and the guy was from Australia but I can't for the life of me remember his name.

Removing the side skirts seems to be the most daunting part (at least for me).

Does debris really end up getting back there?

It gets there with or without wheel arch 'holes' - My S550 collected gravel there too. After 6 years it had done no harm.
Legend thanks Greg.
I think I just need to clean out the cavity, plug the holes and just get on with enjoying the car :)

From what build date did Ford correct this issue?

Will a Henry hoover nozzle and pipe fit in there? If not, perhaps try a bamboo cane with something sticky on the end to pick up the debris, maybe clay?

^Cue the next post: How do I remove a clay bar from inside my side skirts^ 😂

I think model 2025 onwards, if not mistaken.
Somewhere mid '25 MY, early ones still had the holes.

I just dropped the front of each of the side underbody covers and swept them out, didn't bother with side skirts. Did it with fairly low miles, so not a lot in there.
