So my car doesnt have active exhaust system on it but i was looking into buying this flowmaster and it said it have active exhaust on it but i dont see any remote control for the active exhaust in here , so my question is if this doesnt come with the remote control for the car , can i still put it on my base gt without active exhaust option or i have to go with the one that said without active exhaust? Thanks!

Deep tone is gonna be tough, some people on s550s would replace their resonator with an old school flowmaster muffler and that created a pretty unique deep sound, I’m sure there is still threads, definitely would probably lose 10-20hp but if you want that deep sound nbd.

I've seen people achieve a deep throaty sound with an H-pipe, but many aren't a fan of those.

Best bet this summer is to just go to car meets, and every time you hear a coyote roll by that you like the sound of, walk up and ask the owner what his setup it.

YouTube audio will hardly ever capture the real sound.

IMO, good start for the search is H-pipes. The noise they produce is more rakish and burly, sort of unrefined like an old school V8

Agreed, start with the H and go from there

Agreed with the gents above.

Go with what you know. So if you go to a car meet and hear something great? Ask the guy the full setup from the engine back.

If you want to try your own stuff I HIGHLY recommend you do it in pieces. Add one piece, try it, see how you like it then move on to the next. I was going to get Kooks with Green Cats and an H pipe and all these things. I started with the H pipe and glad I didn't add the Kooks. While the HP gains would be nice the noise would not. It's just too loud of a car for me.

Unpopular opinion: muffler delete or axle-back.

Below for example is the cheapest reasonable-quality (409/304 SS) S650-fitting axle-back I could find after obsessively scouring the internet. Notice how the family comment that it's not dramatically louder, but a much deeper tone. That's exactly what I've observed comparing to many other videos of S550 and S650 muffler deletes/axle-backs vs H-pipe alone vs X-pipe alone vs various combos and permutations. I personally prefer a simple muffler delete sound. It can get loud at high-throttle, and will have some drone 60-70MPH, but an overall deeper bassy tone throughout the low rev range. I believe an unavoidable price to having a deep bassy tone is some drone at some speeds. The best way to minimize/avoid this is with a high-end well-engineered system like Borla (4-5x the price of a simple muffy D).

I'm frankly not sure why everyone defaults to X/H-pipe. X/H can be somewhat cheaper than axle-backs/muffler deletes, but requires cutting further in on your exhaust system, leaving less OEM pipe. I would prefer starting with the most conservative approach and removing the least amount of OEM material possible.

This is just my opinion, and the words "muffler delete" may automatically make people attack because of negative associations with fartcan Hondas, but I came to this conclusion by comparing all the videos, comments, product reviews, etc. I could find.

S650 examples of muffler delete alone:

Its 100% how its done. You can definitely make them sound great, you just need someone that knows what they're doing

I agree with all above.
None active exhaust GT here. I replaced my resonator with a H-pipe. DIY and cheap. I got slightly deeper sound and loud enough to my ears. This was supposed to be temporary, and I had all these plans to replace the whole exhaust and headers. But now I am happy with the Coyote sound as-is.

But muffler deletes and most axle-backs are essentially just a simple pipe going back, no? It seems like a relatively uncomplicated setup.

I think the other reason why muffler deletes aren't more common is they sound very bad if combined with X/H/headers. Raspy/tin can from what I heard. But I do think they are the simplest answer to the popular question "tell me 1 simple mod to make my car sound deeper?"

Theres tricks and methods to make them sound better. In theory, yeah, its just welding some test pipe in place of the muffler, but there is a surprising amount of trickery that can be done to make it sound completely unique by just changing an additional one or two things either upstream or downstream of the muffler delete.

Part of the reason a lot of Honda's sound like ass with a muffler delete is because of the factory headers. Theres some brilliant straight-pipes that sound incredible, if not a bit loud, it just required a little more work.

But yeah, you're totally not wrong

Do an H pipe. The downshifts are addicting, youll gain about 5-10 HP and the sound increase by 20% or so.

There’s a reason these are named Outlaws, they are loud. I had them on one of my 18 GT’s. They sound good and not raspy, but the drone inside was horrible. They do not sound like Flowmasters on a Fox body, I haven’t seen or heard any exhaust on these Coyotes that sound that good and deep.
