I think "engine bay" is the correct response, although what I really mean is drive it, park, get out, and strong smell of coolant.

The engine is not running.

It can be cold outside, with the CHT and oil temps only in the 180s.
Take it to the dealer bud. Let us know what happens. Hopefully you have a good service advisor that is willing to listen.

Did you look for signs of coolant under the tank? It’s pretty easy to see with flashlight

Do you have to remove the tank?
No, just look under the overflow tank, see if any signs of coolant dripping from the connection tubes underneath.
You can see all underneath where it would drip onto wheel well metal and down to plastic undercarriage

It is at the dealer right now for an oil and filter change.

"Smell the coolant?" I asked, as the service tech walked up to the car, with the hood open.

"Yep," he answered.

I described to him how I had to keep filling it up to the max line.

He informed me that it would be "weeks" before they could pressure test and diagnose it.

"No problem," I said, just let me know how many weeks, and I will bring the car.

"Oh, no," he replied. "You have to leave it here. Otherwise, you lose your place in line to others dropping off their cars."

🤣

I tried to keep my emotionless expression and not let my usual annoyance at retarded policies be expressed to this guy who probably does not set the policy. I asked a couple of clarifying questions to confirm that yes, indeed, the car has to wait there on their lot for weeks to be seen.

We left the topic up for discussion after the oil change, as they will at least look for the source of any coolant leak while the car is on the lift. He noted that it usually leaves a residue as it dries on the hot engine.

Keep me updated. Luckily for me I got to make an appointment then show up and leave it. I seriously think mine was a loose coolant cap. I hope all goes well.

It'd be quicker to buy a test kit and DIY.
And, find a dealer who gives a damn.

Four hours later I have heard nothing.

They normally change the oil very quickly, so they must be looking it over for the source of the coolant leak.

I guess I need to go find mustangnoob's thread about his engine replacement.

If your engine has to be replaced and you aren’t super attached to the car I think that’s grounds for selling it.

Go to amazon and buy a coolant tester to test if there are any hydrocarbons/COâ‚‚ in the coolant to see if you have an obvious head gasket/crack in block/head issue. The next step is to do a pressure test on the cooling system. These are easy and inexpensive to do.

Why would you jump to such a conclusion based on a hypothetical leak? Cmon man back away from the ledge.
