In all my years, I never understood why some folks make such a huge deal out of doing that ... 😆
Power on and then press always stay started?

My 6MT GT has the button. Even with everything set to "normal", ASS has never engaged for me. 🤔

There’s a seinfeld episode that comes to mind, not the obvious one - No Soup For You! 🤣

If you can push both buttons in one fluid move as they are next to another, then no big deal.
If you had to wait until the system booted up, bigger deal.
Add to that long press speed limiter to get rid of speed limit warning, then it starts feeling like the procedure of starting a midsized plane.

Just read somewhere that the latter shortcut might not even work on European Mustangs.

My ignorance is showing on this topic but will the engine shut down if your foot is on the brake? The manual indicates that tapping the brake will reset the timer so if your foot is on the brake where it should be when you're stuck in traffic, will the feature be disabled? If not, it sounds a bit dangerous having your engine shut down in traffic.
its shuts engine off when i push clutch in....

The 6-speed manual GT I test drove had ASS. It was driving me crazy until I figured out what was going on. When my car finally arrives, one of the first things I have to do is crack open the instrument panel and install the 4D Tech "Stop/Start Eliminator":

https://www.4dtech.com/mustang-24-25-start-stop-eliminator/

A little scary, I know. They say it's not a warranty voider. It just defaults the thing to OFF when you start the car. You can always press your switch to activate it.

If anyone has already tried this, I'd love to hear your results.

My 24 gt 6 speed has it but it can be toggled off in the settings permanently. Disabled it at the dealer never bothered me.

That is a new one. I understood that the setting resets every time you cycle the vehicle. If you can permanently disable it without needing a special tool, they would defeat the purpose. I could see the EPA saying that it is insufficient, and therefore, continuing to charge the extra $1,000 gas guzzler tax on the manual transmission S650s.

You would know if you paid the gas guzzler tax. It's on the Window Sticker. It would be under the Optional Equipment/Other -> *** GAS GUZZLER TAX *** $1,000

I don’t have one on my MDH, it doesn’t have AS/S but I do have one on my Raptor. I campaigned it for about 2 years before I had a problem. I had to cross a divided highway first to the median and turn left onto the _proper_ side of the road. I made the island, came to a stop and off she went - which I did not want, so I let off the brake and floored it to make the gap I was going for. It took forever to hit 60, power was cut when I took off, and it was almost as slow as a prius.

Before that, I’d not been a big sport mode user- Raptor sport mode turns off AS/S. After that incident I started using far more often.
What sealed AS/S fate in my Raptor was the stereo upgrade. I added a 4x75w main amp and 450x1 sub amp. On start up, both amps would scram, I was seeing voltage as low as 9.0 when that happened.

I did buy the AS/S eliminator dongle for the Rap, now I push the button to turn ON AS/S. I tested it and haven’t needed to turn it on since ;-) I haven’t had occasion to get a bunch of warranty work done on the Rap - one leaking front axle seal... a couple lock recalls, tailgate opening recall...
I can’t imagine how this mod would compromise any part of the warranty.

Auto start/stop sucks! And I really hate this statement from the owners manual. Why can this not be permanently turned off!!! I hate this feature!

-Can I permanently switch the system off?
No. The system plays an important role in reducing the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions.
I agree 100%. I too wish there was way to disable this permanently. Since there is not I wil continue to push the button to disable it every time I drive.
