I hate that this thought has been growing in my mind but, as the title says, I’m considering selling my special ordered GT. I spec’d 401a, performance pack, nite appearance pack, magneride, etc. I used the DH spec sheet to guide my build. It’s a beautiful car. I expected the s650 GT to be a hell of a drive, coming from a 2015 ecoboost (201a, performance pack, GT pp brembo swapped), but I hate what Ford slapped together, from a driving experience perspective.
*inhales to start rant* The gen 4 coyote is a fantastic engine but that’s where my accolades for this car end. It’s a comfortable cruiser but that’s not what the evolution of the s550 should be. If you have discerning feet and hands, maybe some high performance driving experience past the complimentary Charlotte track day, I’m sure you’ve felt the disconnect and slight delay between pedal input and vehicle action, affecting both brake and gas pedals.
I’ve on all-too-frequent occasion gotten surprised by at least 0.5sec of non-responsive throttle input while in traffic, enough time to ask my car wtf it is doing; this delay is the reason my wife refuses to drive my car now.
The dead zone at the top of the brake and the slight delay became much more apparent after a few days of driving a turo rental ‘16 civic through the Rocky Mtns last month. The brakes, like every thing else in the car, lack a feel of connection to the system they’re designed to operate, instead feeling like use of a brake pedal in a driving sim on a moving chassis.
Even the magneride suspension, which is very comfortable as a calm daily driver, has to really be worked and loaded to be semicapable on track.
I do have to admit I was a little impressed with the car’s heat management during track time. I expectedly had to do some cool down stretches but they were less frequent than I expected.
Being a $60k+ msrp car with a performance spec, I hoped for and expected a car with more of a drivers feel. After 22k miles on the dash now, I miss having that feel that makes driving special. I miss the feeling of engaging with the machine. I don’t know if I will actually sell it in the near or mid future but that thought has been steadily growing in my mind.
If you made it this far, I’m impressed lol

If throttle response is a major issue, checkout one of those controllers people have been happy with like pedal commander or one of the popular brands. Only a couple hundred bucks and totally reversible. Or looks like tuning will be unlocked soon which will also help

Steeda can address your suspension concerns

You are going to get hammered on the selling price unless you happen to find the "right person".

I assume that in a bit of a roundabout way you’re asking for our thoughts as to whether you should sell. If I were you and unable to get in my car and just drive it and enjoy it, I’d sure as heck sell it. Thing is though I’m not sure what’s out there in this price range that’s perfect enough to withstand this type of scrutiny.

OP - Honestly man, if you aren't feeling the S650, there's nothing wrong with that. With 22k miles in, you def have enough seat time to warrant a proper in-depth opinion. The question is, where do you go from here?

If you don't mind going used, there are obviously plenty of choices out there, with more of an old-school, raw feel...but if you want another new, factory ordered car, it gets a little slim. Maybe ask yourself "what else", if not S650?

The throttle response issue you are reporting is not something I've noticed on my car. The only time there feels like a "delay" is if I'm on the highway and the car has already upshifted into efficient cruising mode and I give it some gas, it will sometimes hesitate to downshift. This can easily be rectified by just changing the driving mode to "sport". It holds the gears longer before upshifting and tends to be a bit more responsive.

My suggestion would be to try the different driving modes, maybe you will find one that suits your driving style.

Can't say I have the throttle response issue on mine and I've definitely experienced various lag with different vehicles before. I do think the PP suspension sucks. Ride was harsh and floaty for me, Ford needs to re-think what they're doing there... Which they seem to have done with their s650 track springs. Night and day difference.

I keep reading about this throttle response issue.

I sold my Audi. It had a huge delay in throttle response. Like if I was at an intersection and punched the gas pedal to the floor, it would just sit there for a while. When driving fast through a turn, I would have to roll onto the gas pedal well before the apex to get the throttle to open somewhere around the apex. A lot of trial and error with respect to timing.

With my 2024 Dark Horse I have noticed nothing of the sort. I push the gas pedal to the floor and the engine starts roaring and the tires start trying to find traction (Trofeo RS tires stick pretty well if they are even slightly warmed up in the summer time).

I certainly have not experienced a half second of delay as described in the original post.

The OP mentioned a delay in brakes, too. Again, nothing of the sort. I found my Dark Horse can brake way, way later approaching a turn than I ever thought possible. No delay.

It seems like a half second delay in applying the brakes would be very dangerous.

At 85 mph (a pretty normal speed on the 70 mph interstate around here), the car is covering 124.667 feet per second. You have an emergency. You slam on those brakes. Your car proceeds another half a second, or 62.334 feet before the brakes apply? That does not sound right. That would be a huge lawsuit waiting to happen against Ford.

As far as the Brembos go, mine had a slight mushy feel at first, but after 2000kms or so that went away. They now have instant bite, great modulation.
It could be that the rotors need bedding in as well as the pads

What model Audi? My Cupra had the VAG EA888 4 cyl turbo and there was nothing like that unless the revs were around 1000/1200. Even then it was minor.
