I’ve ordered a 2025 Dark Horse with the handling package, which comes with 305/30R19 (F) 315/30R19 (R) tires. However, I am not going to track the car all the time and would like to install all season tires. But all season tires don’t come that wide, so I will also have to get another set of narrower wheels to fit the all season tires. I hear that a set of narrower wheels and all season tires on a Dark Horse with the handling package can create problems with the brakes and the suspension. Is that true? Can I install all season tires on a Dark Horse with the handling package?

Wider, stickier tires have their place. But when not needed, a slimmer profile provides more options.

I did something similar with my '22. I purchased a second set of rims (19x10, +35 ET), Ford TPMS sensors and Michelin A/S (285/35/19) tires. The new rims came with supporting Gorilla lugs. I haven't had any issues with suspension or brakes, can rotate the tires and drive in virtually any condition. I shed about 40 lbs, 18 kilos of unsprung weight. The change was a direct swap.

Michelin's A/S 4 tires work very well. Continental also has great A/S offerings in their DWS line.

I haven't studied the sizing and backspacing of the DH, but I'm sure you can do something similar.

When headed to the track, you have a lot of options. Each person could come up with a different solution that works for them, from using the factory rims and tires to having a dedicated track set involving the lightest rims and stickiest compounds.

When changing tires sizes, there is a general guideline most of us follow: the 3% rule. The objective is to keep the diameter of the replacement tire within 3% of the original.

Let's say you pick a tire profile that's 5% smaller or larger than the original. The RPM of those wheels now changes. The difference in speedo is a given. The ABS can perceive the vehicle's speed as being different than what it really is, and act differently as a result. Transmission shift points can also become "weird". That's why most stay within 3%.

^ This site will allow you to compare two tire profiles.

My son just went through this with is Civic Type R which it comes stickish tires, very close to a dry only tire.

Research came down to Michelin's A/S 4 and the Continental DWS. He went with Michelin. He went with a slightly bigger diameter than stock, it was right around 3% difference, so he had a little more sidewall to absorb bumps.

I have a DH with HP aswell, Here is what I went with and it fits great.

Stock rims are 19x10.5 and 19x11
Stock wheels 305/30R19 and 315/30R19

On the stock rims
285/30R19 and 325/30R19
MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON 4 ZP

Fits perfectly, Doesn't rub on fenders or inside the wheel well, doesn't poke out handles great in the rain and does great on track wet or dry.

Also has been handling great in current Seattle's icy weather.

This is the best option without buying a new set of rims.

I dealt with the same issues on my '24. I ended up with a set of pirelli p zero ultra high performance all seasons that I am happy with for the colder temps on GT PP wheels with 1" spacers. Figure I will drive those into the spring and then put the wider sticky tires back on for the summer. The pirelli and Michelins has near identical bench marks, but I was able to get the set of pirellis for about $300 cheaper. Bought used take offs from eBay for the wheels. All in I was at $2400 with mounting, balancing and new TPMS sensors. If I had gotten my car in the spring and had a chance to wear the Trefeos out over the warm months I probably would have leaned more in the direction that kgautam28 went.

Have any pics? I'm looking for all seasons also, but not sure on size. Worried about looks with different size.

I took my Dark Horse to the track Friday, and I absolutely love the Trofeo RS 305/30R19 (F) 315/30R19 (R) tires. Love them.

They are also fun on the street, but they were great at the track.

However, they are not suitable for the rain, and they pick up gravel like crazy.

I also cannot afford to be buying new tires several times a year.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S comes in the original 305/30R19 (F) and 315/30R19 (R) sizes. Has anybody replaced their tires with these Michelins? Any issues?

They are 300 treadwear rating as compared to the original tires' ridiculous 180.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but has anybody tracked with these Michelins 4S tires? How do they do compared to the Trofeo RS?

I had the Michelin PS4S on my Audi, but I never tracked that car.

Any input from anybody with something relevant to say is welcome, please, especially if you have actual experience.

Yes, and yes. Respectively.
I replaced my trofeos with the pilots, and am very happy with them sticking wise and they already have outlived the factory tires!

Dark Horse Track Attack cars use the same p4s we buy off the rack at factory psi and those cars stick like mad.

they’re predictable, communicative, sticky but last a reasonable amount of time and miles.

Yes, I have used them and no I have not had any issues.

One of the rim/tire combos I run is a set of 19" DHP1 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Great tire for dry driving, decent tire for wet driving. All around a great "Cruising with the gf on a Sunday morning" tire where you can get into a little bit just to hear her scream a little (both the car and the gf).

If you decide to up the horsepower and go hunting you may want to consider getting a 2nd set of rear wheels with a more sticky tire. I have experience with the Nitto NT555 RII drag radial on my previous boosted S550 however have been itching to try a Mickey Thompson ET Street SS. We will see what spring brings.
