Summer Only vs All Season Tires in Illinois

All season for me so I can drive in the cold months without snow. If it is sunny and 35 degrees then I would like to take it out without worry of tire damage or traction.

I’m up in the northeast burbs of Chicago.
On my 15gt I ran winter tires and summer tires. At the end of my 6 years of ownership I concluded winter tires suck if you never drive in the snow… too squishy and noisy for a performance fun car.
On my 21 Mach 1 I had a dedicated set of summers and all-seasons for winter. Concluded that all-season Continental DWS’s were an awesome tire for 7 months of the year. Great in the cold and warm conditions.
Now I’m in the Dark Horse that I purchased on a 25 degree day end of Feb. I really had no issues driving in that temp as long as I didn’t get on it. After all they sell these cars and let them sit all winter on the lots with summer tires on.
still haven’t made a decision what to do for this winter but I’m leaning on some nice new lightweight wheels with all-season’s to shed rolling weight and use them 8 months of year:
Also side note… always look at tread width when buying tires:
I was disappointed with the look of the Continental DW summer tires tread width on my Mach 1, they looked skinny compared to the PS4’s
