I've tried to retrofit AE so far. I got all OEM parts like actuators, harnesses, its connectors and full active valve exhaust that retains OEM AE system, but there is no way to add AE to PCM at the moment. I asked many Ford techs and was told that FDRS ,aka Ford Diagnostic and Repair Software, decodes a VIN and does not allow access to that are not in the build table for that VIN.

Since I have already confirmed it using my own money, don't waste your money for now.

There may chance to access it via Forscan one day.
Did you only make chances to the IPC module? I found a line in the ACM for active exhaust too.

Yeah I did. I’ve already looked into the as-built data for non-AE VIN and VIN with AE, and I used Forscan to make them match, but the AE functionality isn’t working(It showed up on SYNC but that's about it) I changed lines in the modules follow:

Instrument Panel Control (IPC)
720-06-01 xxxx xxxx x*--
Selectable Drive Mode (SDM) • Dual Exhausts (DE) • Exhaust Mode Button (EMB) • Eco Mode RTT (EMRTT) (EMB=Exhaust mode selection in the centerstack)

720-10-01 *xxx xxxx xx--
Transmission Temperature Curve (TTC) • Tunable Exhausts (TE) • Cross Traffic Message (CTM)

Accessory Protocol Interface Module(APIM) (SYNC)
7D0-09-03 xxxx xxx* xx--
Drive Control Menu (DCM) • Trailer Brake Controller (TBC) • Tunable Exhausts (TE) • Engine Rev Match (ERM)
7D0-09-05 xxxx x*xx xx--
FoE Seatbelt Warning Strategy (FESWS) • Quiet Time Exhaust Mode (QTEM) • Clear Exit Assist (CEA)

Audio Control Module(ACM)
727-01-03 xxxx xxxx x*--
Auto Tow Haul Signal (ATHS) • Active Exhaust Signal (AES)

Hi all

I plan to add active exhaust on my non-ae model. I will post all my steps as much as I can do here. Hopefully it could be helpful for someone considers getting Active exhaust

Although it is not possible to control the exhaust from the cluster as provided by Ford(requires PCM tuning but PCM for S650 is locked so far), I have found a way to control the Ford OEM Exhaust Actuator using a microcontroller unit like Arduino.

After many attempts, just found a way to control the exhaust actuator. I hope it will be helpful for someone trying to retrofit active exhaust.

Along the lines of a ā€˜mild 2 wild’ style system. External (as in not integrated into sync) fob style control of actuators.

I wonder if the AWE SwitchPath Remote Control exhaust can more readily be added to a car that didn’t come with AE. It has its own actuators and control module that needs to tap into the wiring harness. From there opening and closing is only via the remote regardless of mode. So it would at least need a new or modified rear valance and I’m guessing something to extend or tap into the harness for power.

Note that the AWE controller and remote states: "Works with stock system, or AWE SwitchPathā„¢ Exhaust". So maybe this can be added to a stock Ford or third-party exhaust valve system (Borla, Roush, etc.) on a vehicle that was not built originally with one, which would bypass the Ford Computer controller.

What I ended up doing is just buying the valve system from valvetronic and was able to pair the remote with the garage opener on the window visor and does the job

Like the guy above, what I did was getting actuators and control units from Aliexpress, then install them and operate the actuators with a remote controller. If you know how to do hard wiring, I recommend buying a system that operates with a push-button instead of a remote control.

So in both of your cases, were the 3 additional wires (PR3Z-14A411-A * 2) + (PR3Z-14A411-C * 1) required to get power down to the actuators (PR3Z-5K245-B * 2)? Or did you find that even sending power to them is controlled by the stock S650 computer control system, so something else would be required upstream or independent of that to provide power to a 3rd party controller?

No, I didn't use any OEM parts from Ford. I purchased the actuators from Aliexpress, and the control unit was also bought from Aliexpress. I hard-wired the power through the fuse box, and everything operates with the remote control provided by the seller.

DO you have the part numbers that you ordered? TIA!

Good grief.

TLDR but easier, safer and probably cheaper just to trade cars.
