25C43 Water Intrusion Recall

Pretty sure the are sealed is covered by trim. Not sure I care what the sealing looks like if it works

Thie recall dropped today, for most, it will involve an inspection and sealant application. For the picky and OCD among us (myself included) this is what its supposed to look like. Plus, we are to lift the right lower corner of the windshield to shoot sealer under it, opening up the possibility for the glass to break and have to be replaced. I'm going to pass on doing all this to my car for these reasons, and address the problem if it comes up. Recalls do not expire, if you had this issue years from now, it can still be repaired. The only way the dealer would keep the car is if the BCM corroded and it was not driveable (in which case it would be sitting here anyway), as the recall further states that it may be a few more months til the BCM's are available.

This is an official repair workup from Ford ? To fix a possible water intrusion for my car is 2025 dark horse? That looks like a 1960s yellow/red vehicle in the picture look at the metal...hope it's done right is all..

That is the official procedure as of today. Yellow was available in 2024, and I'm guessing they chose it to show contrast. I don't know if the cowl covers it or not, its hard to tell from the pics. I'll keep an eye out for one in the shop and see. And as long as I've been in this business, I'm VERY leary of prying on a windshield!

Yes im concerned about that as well.. need to ask a windshield guy if that is a possible issue when messing around lifting windshield..

I went to the dealer today and showed them the email. They were not even aware it had dropped today. They have been keeping my car as they were concerned of the liability if something would have happened. The whole issue was when I bought it and when the recall came out. I bought it earlier in the day, the recall came out same day. They lumped my car into the general recall if what they had in the lot. Their attorney is said it was smarter and safer to do that. That is how it was explained to me. If this fix had not come out, they would be writing me a $84K check today as I paid cash for it only to be put off and off. Thanks for the update.

I normally don't watch recalls this closely, but I have the vehicle in question and have friends who do, as well as ones who want to buy a car, but couldn't. The shop foreman got an e-mail on it and let me know.

Are they prying the windshield and applying the goop only if it fails the water test?

Why does the image say left side and show brake modulator, didn’t some other thread say a bcm was located in the passenger footwell?

It looks like the windshield prying is done before the water test, as it says to let all the sealer set up before water testing. Further on, it shows how to remove the sill plate and kick panel on the right side where BCM 1 is located. BCM 2 is in the right side of the trunk. I only posted the left side to show the ugly sealer mess.

I would guess they are sealing both sides of the cowl, as it is hollow and water coming in the left side could migrate across and drop into the right side.

That sealer looks like shit. No way am I'm bringing in my car so they can do that.

We just had a good rain storm and both my foot wells were completely dry.

My intention is for my car to never see rain, snow and salt anyway. My 06 was 100% Rustang underneath…looked awful.

But for all of you guys with your new car stuck in Dealer Jail, I am truly happy for you all finally getting your cars! I was about to bake you all cakes with a file in it to break them out.

I am going to do my own leak test. Pull the kick panel and flood the cowl area when I hand wash it. Inspect the area for water intrusion. After seeing the goop repair it seems only needed if you have water. Are dealers going to do the goop repair if needed? Im sure that's why corporate wants pictures if repair was needed otherwise inspection only would have a different rate.
