I’m having trouble processing this. You took delivery of the car. They cannot hold it. You can pick up the car and take it back when they have the inspection procedure. I’ve have my car since May, and no effing way can a dealer take my car back and hold it until they figure out what to do.
Thank you for your reply. I had my car when the light recall came out. I took it to them as they said it was a safety recall. They have had it all this time and then the BCM came out while they had the car. That’s where they said they cannot release it to me due to the additional safety recall since they had my car. Are they blowing smoke to cover themselves?

100% agree. Go pick it up. What do you think happens when someone takes theirs in for an oil change (and has a recall) , that they take it and refuse to return ?

I just had mine in the other day for a free oil change. They said they would also do the recall , then realized it wasn't ready yet and returned my car to me.

They cannot keep your car once you buy it, safety reasons or not. IMO.

I agree with all who’ve said they can’t keep your car!! If it’s yours then them keeping it is basically a stolen vehicle.

I’m actually having trouble understanding why it was returned to your dealer for the first recall. For our Mustangs it was a recall to inspect. Since then they’ve deleted that recall for our Mustangs. The water intrusion to BCM is for so many Mustangs, but they need the procedure to inspect and fix as necessary. My car has been to my dealer for service since the recall came out. Of course the car was returned to me after the service.

As for my car, I will drive it and not worry about the recall. If the BCM develops the problem, it sounds like the issue is a lighting issue. Safety yes. Life threatening unlikely.

Time to tell them to return your car to you. If any issue time for threat of an attorney. Candidly, this dealer seems to have their head totally where the sun doesn’t shine!

They can’t sell a car under recall, but they sure as shit can’t take a car you took delivery of away from you. I’m angry just thinking about it.

Ford was just fine with me driving my 06 GT with two Takata airbag bombs for years until they had a fix for them. They can’t literally take your car away from you for MAYBE having a BCM sealing issue.

it is no different than me taking my car now in for an oil change and them not giving it back to me. I would lose my shit. 🤬

How is it possible they won't give you your car bac? Nobody is knocking on doors and taking cars away. Just go get it! Glenn

I can tell you exactly what’s happened.

as someone who worked in dealerships at all levels here is what most likely occurred:

A) Dealer Sells Car to Customer
B) Dealer doesn’t process all paperwork internally (registration etc) / RDR the vehicle immediately (report the sale to Ford)
C) You paid cash so there is no loan to unwind
D) They try to RDR the vehicle (report sold in Ford system- it’s not allowed due to recall- dealer shits themselves
E) You bring the vehicle in; they won’t finish processing anything until the recall is done so they don’t get in a world of shit with Ford.

You hosed yourself by bringing it back to them in the first place.

I would demand my money back and lawyer up if they refuse.

That is INSANITY

They are most likely blowing Canadian smoke up there! Go tell them you want your car! I doubt very much dealers are coming to take our cars, and where would they store them all? Not to mention mine isn't allowed to be outside for extended periods of time! Glenn

Thie recall dropped today, for most, it will involve an inspection and sealant application. For the picky and OCD among us (myself included) this is what its supposed to look like. Plus, we are to lift the right lower corner of the windshield to shoot sealer under it, opening up the possibility for the glass to break and have to be replaced. I'm going to pass on doing all this to my car for these reasons, and address the problem if it comes up. Recalls do not expire, if you had this issue years from now, it can still be repaired. The only way the dealer would keep the car is if the BCM corroded and it was not driveable (in which case it would be sitting here anyway), as the recall further states that it may be a few more months til the BCM's are available.

this makes perfect sense. My 2025 GT Premium has 3100 miles on it and is garage kept. I will not rush to have this performed. It is great for those waiting for stop sale vehicles.

Well now the shop foreman tells me that the specific sealer that is required has very limited availability. He scored 30 tubes and was told that it will be a while til there is more. We will be required to apply the sealer as seen above, and may even have to send pics back to verify we've done it. I've got hives just looking at that abortion.

That sealer looks like shit. No way am I'm bringing in my car so they can do that.

We just had a good rain storm and both my foot wells were completely dry.
