I have had a 2014 mustang Gt automatic and I had 4.10 gears installed. The car because a beast to drive especially with tune.
But I never had a mustang with these many gears. I do a lot of around town driving. But even on the highway I don't see getting in all those shifts.
But I was thinking of putting in 4.10s or whatever they offer. I didn't have issues with the 14 mustang when I shifted it manually it responded with crisp shifts. The transmission would not shift unless you did it in manual mode.
So has anyone have done this upgrade with the 10spd automatic transmission.
Thank you

Is the car just going to be a daily driver or are there other plans? Staying naturally aspirated or doing a boosted application? For N/A, daily driving (if you really wanted to switch the gears), go with a 3.55 or a 3.73 for a more aggressive launch.

I was concerned that the trans would be hunting all the time but that’s not the case at all. I’m very happy with the auto. The only negative is that if I am downshifting coming off the freeway, in my Grand Cherokee V8, I could feel the engine braking with just one downshift. With the Mustang and so many gears, I have to downshift 2-3 gears to really feel the engine braking.

every day driver i am retired and the most i would do is maybe a tune down the road. I am just thinking since the automatic has 10spds a gear change would make the car more alive and get you to use all the 10 speeds. I had no issues with my 14 GT with the 4.10s

I just had Palm Beach Dyno tune my 10R80 in my 2025 GT and the automatic is just right now. Even in Normal mode, the transmission is quick shifting and fun.

Note: That was part of my 93 tune. I also have upgraded to an E85 tune...Wow!

The first gear in the ten speed is so low that 4.09 is a ridiculous rear gear.

What rear gear do you have now?

What rear tire diameter will you be running?

Any other modifications?

First gear is 4.70.

With a 3.55 rear gear, that is the equivalent of, in back in the day, a Muncie Rock Crusher 4 speed and a 7.58 rear gear.

Think about that for a little bit.

You can calculate it for yourself with a 4.09, but I would say no.

I have the 3.55 and the DH HP, which means about 26.5" tires, and I do not think any lower rear gear would be useful, at all. If I were going to drag race it, I would do a loose converter, but I do not think I would change the rear end gear ratio.
