I have no idea how popular or not such a car would be.

A Mustang is a Mustang only if it's a Mustang. Verifying a Mustang is a Mustang is very easy.
1. Ford ✔
2. Various badging, pony, 289, tri-bar, 5.0 , DH, GT500 etc. ✔
3. 2-doors ✔
4. 4-doors ✔ (if checked ✔ end verification and notify owner they have something just not a Mustang.

I welcome this actually. What they SHOULD do is call it the Cougar which was a longer wheelbase more luxurious Mustang. But I do understand the Mustang “brand” has global appeal. And based on all the current data showing the 35 and under crowd are done with SUVs and want 4-door sedans, this thing makes a lot of sense.
Cougar has connotations now. Probably would not be a big seller to women.
But young guys may well be drawn to it.

A 4-door would be a lincoln esquire not a ford mustang. How many stirrups on that thar bronc?
In Ford jargon it should be called the Bronco sport4, Pinto AWD, Corsair Mach4, anything but Mustang. Leave the girl alone, what ever happened to being original? I know call it FX-Atmos 2, naaaay.

About a month into driving my Eco I thought that Ford should build a sedan on the same platform and that it would sell due to Stellantis messing up every sedan they had.

Not to mention financing or leasing from Stellantis sucks. I leased a 200 and had such a bad experience that I ignored Stellantis altogether when it was time to pick a new car.

I think there is a market for a four door sedan using the same platform as the Mustang. I am completely against calling it a Mustang, however. And there is no freaking way they'll have a hybrid power powertrain for under $40k. Impossible. One that uses the 2.3 with the 10R80? Maybe.

A hybrid 2.3 is def doable for sub 40. Keep in mind the miracle maverick exists. Ford made a great hybrid starting in the low 20s. A hybrid with a shared platform in the high 30s seems acheivable.
