Please don't pay >$100 for this. Takes probably 1 minute, it's literally typing a single digit. You could just offer one of the techs $20 to do it for you after work. Just find a younger looking tech, they'll know how to use computers.

At address IPC 720-02-01, change the 1st digit from 0 to 4.

(There used to be a 2nd change required (720-12-01), but Ford has updated that by default)
You arent paying for typing a single digit, you're paying for not bricking your PCM and being in a world of hurt over warranty concerns when you have to tow it to the dealer for them to fix. And the typical dealer response will be "bad PCM" which they will order a new one and need to bench flash it before you can be on your way. Even though we know it doesnt need it, they will say it does and you will end up with a several thousand dollar bill and a voided warranty. So about that $100...

It’s even simpler than that, as it’s available to change in easy mode - disabled to enabled.

An equivalent of approx $900 per hour 🤯 Unless they will include any other changes in that price and also backing up your as-built configuration for you?
They quoted for an hour. I assume they'd back up, but I would insist if I went ahead.

If you factor in the backup, testing and a test drive too, $150 doesn’t sound so bad. I’m always nervous when a dealer has my car, so if it was me I would ask them to do this only when the car was already going into them for something else like a regular service.

I need to do this myself. You fellas that have already done this, what OBDII adapter are you using? And if any of yall want to make a slightly more detailed video from plugging it in, opening Forscan, etc., I wouldn't be mad at ya 😀

Is there any downside to doing this?

It seems like Ford would have had it this way from the factory.

It is not terribly important information, but it would be kind of neat to see the gear number displayed when not in manual mode.

Only downside, if you can call it that, is that it will not be displayed twice on the dash. Once in large format in the speedometer somewhere, depending on your dash choice and to the right of the "M" on the PRNDM display. No other issues otherwise. I have had mine enabled now for about 6 months.

I asked one of our techs here about it when I got my '24, and FDRS did not have the capability at that time. I have not looked for it on my '26 yet.
