Just got off of the phone with the dealer, they are taking it Wednesday next week and replacing the BCM possibly more.

A little update for this thread.. It has been about a month and a half since I had the recall procedure done. today it rained quite hard and noticed my interior lights started flickering again and the ambient lights were stuck on. naturally my first suspicion is the check the BCM..

And to my surprise (not) it is indeed soaked full of water again even after this patch was done. Taking it back to the dealer sometime. I encourage everyone to perform their own water test thoroughly if they've had this recall done. I assume mine was a bad patch and will send a picture of it when I can.

OMG. That really sucks. Ford is really shitting the bed on this recall.

Where is the bcm? How do you access it to see if it is wet.?

Its in the pasenger side kick panel. There are a ton of threads that walk you through it if you do a search.

I talked to my dealer and they had only one technician certified to do the recall. The question is how many dealers don't bother to have it done by someone trained on the repairs?

It is the same at my dealer. only one person qualified to do it and it still didn't fix the issue...

I talked to my dealer service dept about it a while back, they say that the body shop (on premise) would have to do it... I didn't talk to them yet as I wasn't ready to do it yet. I suppose I will continue to wait and see how it goes with others before letting them loose on my car. I can do the inspection/water test and wait on any fixes until Ford has one that "works".

I'm of the same mindset as you. All except for the water test. Mine gets wet very infrequently, so I'll just watch out for flashing lights. Every week, there seems to be another horror story. Glenn

Mine too stays in the garage in bad weather... though occasionally may need a bath... or heaven forbid get caught in the rain. So at least knowing if my car has issues before I wash it, I can try to keep the water out of the danger zone.

It's not hard to do your own water test and inspection. Anyone that has had the fix done and still has water coming in more than likely didn't have it done properly. They are suppose to retest after the fix is done. If the fix was right and water is coming in its coming from somewhere else. Windshields have had issues with some forum members.
As far has dealers only having one person able to do the fix seems to be inadequate. However Ford requires a certain level technician to do the work or the dealer will not get paid for the work. Small dealers have limited personal.
I haven't had the fix done and if I do it will only be to clear the recall. I will make sure it is an inspection only and no black slop will be used unless inspection fails.

My dealer owns multiple dealerships, so a qualified service technician probably isn't a problem. Having one that can do it properly, without making things worse, is still a possibility. If a small dealership doesn't have a qualified person, they should inform you of that fact and tell you you'll have to go to another dealer, not screw up your car. Glenn

I'm starting to wonder what kind of people work in your USA dealerships. It seems like you don't need to have any degree and knowledge to work there if I have to believe all the comments from people who don't being their car for a recall?

I have one of the 5 S650's here in the country and brought it to the dealership and they did a good job.
