Yes I know that. When he said "inferred" in an earlier post I thought he was referring to the high temperature limit on the track guage being "inferred" because there is no number associated with yellow or red.There is no oil temp sensor... it is in fact inferred, based on CHT and oil pressure and whatever else ford thinks is relative.

I ld bet that posters limp mode experience was due to something else.
Yes they have the same numbers. But you have to look at the guage to infer the limits. This is the oil temp gauge on my track app. It doesnt have numbers but I've e been able to figure out that the yellow mark is 280⁰. This was at a temp of 210⁰.

And what were you doing? Any mods? Are you certain is was due to oil temps? Aren't you the guy that needed an engine replacement?What temp did you see 'limp mode'? How are you monitoring that temperature?
What actually happens to the car in 'limp mode'? Message on dash? lower rpm?

Again, I really think these guages and a general lack of understanding are turning people into car hypochondriacs.I have been paying attention to that, too, matching the number to the auxiliary gauge, but I have not been over 224° of inferred oil temperature, so I have to get on a track or something to push it higher. I was already a candidate for the cuffs running it up to 224°

I posted that I wanted to look for MustangNoob's thread on that subject. What I mean is, the two different experiences could be explained by MustangNoob being at 280 and krisk being at 289, but a different input (CHT? Transmission temp?) threw MustangNoob's car into limp mode while krisk kept rocking right along at a higher inferred oil temperature.

I managed to get it to 235° on the way home today, but it required a lot of hauling down on the brakes followed by full throttle in Track or Drag mode followed by more hauling down on the brakes followed by more full throttle followed by . . . and so on. I'll really need a race track to push it higher.I was already a candidate for the cuffs running it up to 224°
