Saleen has gone bankrupt how many times?

They have been thru multiple owners, IIRC the current one is some Chinese company

Steve Saleen's involvement?

He has come and gone and come.... who knows

I think the company is pretty much dead at this point

Anyone who has any interest or knowledge of the car hobby knows Saleen has been toxic for 20 years now

Like....does this mean a 3 cubic inch difference is also just a 'technicality' and a 305 is as similar to the 302 as a 307 is? Are the 289 and 302 technically the same? There's only a 13 cubic inch difference there and they're a lot more similar than a 305 and 302 are.

And OMG, what if we start adding the year they were manufactured into the mix!
If 5 cubic inches are just a technicality, how can a 302 not be the same as a 302????
I'm just.... I'm feeling so confused right now!
Just be thankful this isn't a Ferrari forum.

I went out, grabbed a handful, and am chewing on it now.
But since we've devolved into attacking each others opinions already..

Just because they've always done something doesn't mean I can't think that it is stupid or appalling when they insist on labeling it as something it isn't. You're welcome to your opinion, but you don't need to mock mine.

I shouldn't be surprised though. Spend any amount of time here and you quickly learn that Shelby has no credibility when it comes to the s650 and the Dark Horse name is a joke; while Boss, Cobra, and Mach should continue to be used until the end of time. So yeah, it makes perfect sense to call this a 302!

Also, if you wouldn't mind, please enlighten me as to how being factually incorrect is just a 'technicality'; because it sounds like actual numbers don't really mean much.

Just trying to sort out where the 'technicalities' regarding engine displacement actually begin and end. I figure I'm gonna hold off on asking about the technicalities of gear ratio's until I have my head completely wrapped around displacement. 👍

Right? How dare I have an opinion that doesn't align with the OP's.
Apparently that means I'm supposed to bow down and touch grass.

307 is an Oldsmobile or an oddball Chevy engine. 305 and 307 are 5.0 liter engines, 302 is technically a 4.9 liter. :)
Yes, but both the gen 3 and gen 4 Coyote's are also 307 (See the gen 3 update); which just so happens to be what is used in the cars referenced by this thread.

🤫 Don't say nothing though, It's just a technicality.

Dear lord. Don't tell him the gen four Coyote is actually 5.035L and not 5.0L or he'll really lose his shit. How dare Ford use those fake badges! The things that people on the internet get worked up over will never cease to amaze me. More tactile interaction with greenery is definitely needed.

Who's worked up?

You do realize that, TECHNICALLY, everything from 5.0 to 5.099999999999 is 5.0, right?

So exactly which fake badges are you referring to?
Oh! Must be the ones where Ford called the 302 a 5.0 when it's really just a 4.948.
But, if you round the 8 up, the 4 becomes a 5, and if you then round the 5 up, you get 5.0!

And, please don't flip flop which side of the argument you're on here!
First you were fine with Saleen putting 302 on the side of their car, but now Ford can't put 5.0 on theirs? Good gravey, man! Maybe you should think about taking your own advice.

Back on topic, anyone else think the Saleen grill makes the Mustang look like a Dodge from the front? Once I saw it I can't unsee it. Makes this version of the Mustang a hard no for me.

The front end of the Saleen Mustang is by far my favorite element of it. If I had an S650 and could buy the Saleen front clip and not have to change the hood, I would seriously think about it. To my eyes, it is by far the best-looking Mustang front end for the 7th generation.

Yep, while I think it looks good, that was the first thing I thought of as well.

I'm with you as well... I saw it on first glance... it screams charger ...

People like to poke about the S650 and Camaro thing but the Saleen Charger thing is way more apparent to me ...

I can't stand the way it looks
