The car is really nice, I was there when it was revealed by Steve Saleen and delivered to Dana. Nice sound with the exhaust they put on, the interior upgrades are really nice.

I'm surprised there are any aftermarket companies left that will do business with Saleen....

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE — SALEEN TOOK OUR MONEY AND DID NOT DELIVER
My wife and I ordered a new Saleen Mustang in November 2024. What followed was one of the worst business experiences I have ever had.

From the start, communication was nonexistent. Emails, phone calls, and text messages were ignored for weeks at a time. When Saleen did respond, the information was often false. Deadlines were missed repeatedly, and promises meant absolutely nothing.

We flew out in person to see the vehicle and personally handed over a $41,500 check for the conversion. Despite explicit assurances, the car was NOT completed. We were told—face to face—that it would be finished within a week. That statement was completely untrue.

Months passed. No progress. No accountability. No honest communication. Just excuse after excuse.

Eventually, Saleen agreed IN WRITING (via email) that I would install the remaining part myself and that Saleen would reimburse us $12,000 for work they failed to complete. That agreement has never been honored.

As of today:

No reimbursement
No phone calls
No emails
No explanation
Saleen simply kept $12,000 for work they never performed.

I have retained every email, text message, and voicemail documenting repeated promises and outright false statements. This is not a misunderstanding — it is a pattern of deception and nonperformance.

Anyone considering buying a Saleen vehicle should understand this clearly: once they have your money, you no longer matter. The company shows zero integrity, zero professionalism, and zero accountability. The volume of negative reviews online only reinforces what we personally experienced.

Knowing what I know now, I would NEVER purchase a Saleen vehicle. If you are researching this company, consider this your warning. Do not trust their promises. Do not trust their timelines. And do not expect them to stand behind their agreements.

Run — don’t walk — away from Saleen

So, does their 302 series have nothing to do with the actual engine size?

Having something like a Boss 302 was cool when the 5.0L it came with was in fact a 302 c.i.d. engine. Labeling a 7th gen car, with a 4th gen Coyote, as a '302', not so much IMO.

Aside from that, it's pretty good looking.

Lovely. Kinda reads like a bad Yelp review. Im sure there's a little more to that story. But hopefully they've cleaned things up a bit.

Anyway, I like what they did with the S650.

Meh. Thats just gee whiz semantics. The first two Gen Coyotes were 302. 307 just doesnt roll of the tongue the same way. Hardly that big of a deal to necessitate a brand name change.

I really like that. Maybe not white wheels, but I still wouldn't kick it out of bed.

Well, to each his own I guess.
If we had been saying '307' for 60yrs, '302' would seem strange. The reason they were called 302's is because that was the actual engine displacement.

To me, slapping '302' on the side of this thing (because of lineage), is just as stupid and appalling as having a dead guy's name (Shelby) on their car would be to others on this forum.

Lol. Yes I know that was the engine displacement. Re-read my post. Maybe your unaware that Saleen has always branded their Mustangs 302 on the fender. Getting hung up over a 5 cubic inch technicality is just silly. If thats your first take away from this car then you probably should go out and touch some grass.

I went out, grabbed a handful, and am chewing on it now.
But since we've devolved into attacking each others opinions already..

Just because they've always done something doesn't mean I can't think that it is stupid or appalling when they insist on labeling it as something it isn't. You're welcome to your opinion, but you don't need to mock mine.

I shouldn't be surprised though. Spend any amount of time here and you quickly learn that Shelby has no credibility when it comes to the s650 and the Dark Horse name is a joke; while Boss, Cobra, and Mach should continue to be used until the end of time. So yeah, it makes perfect sense to call this a 302!

Also, if you wouldn't mind, please enlighten me as to how being factually incorrect is just a 'technicality'; because it sounds like actual numbers don't really mean much.

Like....does this mean a 3 cubic inch difference is also just a 'technicality' and a 305 is as similar to the 302 as a 307 is? Are the 289 and 302 technically the same? There's only a 13 cubic inch difference there and they're a lot more similar than a 305 and 302 are.

And OMG, what if we start adding the year they were manufactured into the mix!
If 5 cubic inches are just a technicality, how can a 302 not be the same as a 302????
I'm just.... I'm feeling so confused right now!

307 is an Oldsmobile or an oddball Chevy engine. 305 and 307 are 5.0 liter engines, 302 is technically a 4.9 liter. :)

You aren't the first story I heard like this.
Hopefully you lawyered up! And I hope this experience goes out to as many as possible so they feel the pain of their shaddy business practices. I'd make it my living to expose them if they did it to me.

This one wasnt me- just a story I copied and pasted but like you I have heard the stories....not to mention I had many friends that worked for Saleen back in the day where they assembled the cars and the stories I heard...lets just say many a short cut was taken when assembling the cars and this is when they were more financially stable.........heard all sort of horror stories about quality even back then.......

I think there is a reason Steeda, Roush, exc have shown stability over the years compared to Saleen .......
