First thoughts are that this car does look way better in the flesh than the leaked render that looks like a Ford intern put together using the lowest possible polygon object, and just sculpted it enough to loosely resemble this.

I'm not happy they chose Dark Horse SC over something like "Cobra" or "Boss", but I can get over that if it'll drive better than my GT and the Dark Horse.

I refuse to believe this is going to be a Whippled 5.0L based on what I saw on the NHTSA's website, but if it is, then I'd like to know what exactly Ford has coming after this. Those are production-intent documents, and if they added the "5.2 SC" again, then something really close to completion has to use it. If it turns out it's not this, then we're in a very interesting situation.

If pricing starts under 100k - which, admittedly, I don't expect it will - I would, dare I say, consider trading up.

I haven't lost hope that there will be a manual. If they've ripped the GTD's powertrain and placed it in this with no modifications, that means the transaxle has carried over as well, and there is a chance that Tremec's new manual rated for ridiculous numbers could be dropped in. But I'm not seeing any bodywork indicating a transaxle, and if there were I'd expect the price to start quite high.

We shall find out what exactly is under the skin in roughly 24 hours.

Nice. Someone else that reads the actual words. Its a curse for me. They are very crafty.
One could argue that title goes to the GTD. If they wanted to use that statement, they would need to word it as "Second most advanced Mustang ever". Doesn't quite sell as well to the under-informed as "Most advanced Dark Horse", and we are not their only target audience.

Most track capable ever with a supercharger? I am eager to see what they did for cooling. I think you all are looking at this the wrong way. The most track capable Dark Horse ever with a supercharger is a huge advancement.

They would not make a claim like this if the car is going into limp mode after a few laps due to heat.
All you have to do is add 1) a performance aluminum radiator with a thicker core allowing it to dissipate heat faster and 2) the Whipple HD dual pass heat exchanger to keep you IAT's down and, that concern goes away.

Ugh, another whipple'd 5.0. I'll just add a whipple to my GT and save on the inevitable auto insurance hike from buying mostly the same thing.

If it’s just a supercharger on a dark horse with the gt500 transmission then that’s disappointing and just not creative.
But look at the last gt350 s650… not too creative either.
I’ll stick with my DH and boost one day maybe.
I’ll be $60k richer

I like to disassemble things.
Taped up paddles....she's a DCT.

Can't tell if the rotors are another SHW variant or a traditional two piece. Cross drilled? Calipers from the previous GT500? Again, can't tell.

They covered the seat and I suspect its the same seat, new skin, from the GT500/GTD. Still hoping for something new or fresh in that regard.

Wing looks very similar to that of the CFTP GT500 but with a new mount/upright.

Surprised at a number of things so far and looking forward to power numbers. I'm guessing it uses the GT500's carbon fiber driveshaft as well.

What I've always found interesting is that the Dark Horse is only rated at 14 more horsepower (in theory) than the GT with AVE. Seems kind of strange to me that they're now going to supercharge it. Why didn't Ford do that in the first place? I can put another $13k into my $60k GT and have pretty close to the same performance. Kind of disappointing. Maybe I was expecting a little too much.
I think of the Dark Horse as the 1LE option on the Camaro: upgrades for the race track that also work good on the street. 1LE Camaros didn't have any more power (even on the ZL1), but plenty of brake and suspension upgrades and more coolers.

I was hoping for something new and original. Not the same predator engine they've been using for 5 -years with their silly rebranded name on it. And if its just a super charged coyote thats even worse.
I’m hoping to win the lottery. I think I have a better chance than you. 🤭👍

Not gonna lie I was getting excited for the cobra name. Hopefully this won’t be the only reveal slated for tomorrow
Sliver of a hope this isn’t the only road legal Stang they reveal. That wing the test mule had certainly wasn’t the GT500 wing they’re using on the DH SC.
