When I drive my car in Normal Mode, under normal acceleration, it shifts quickly to the next gear before even hitting 2,000-2,500 RPM. So I'm in like 5th gear very quickly just getting up to 40 MPH approx.

So today, now that the car is officially broken in, I played in Manual Mode. Under mild acceleration I let it wind out to about 4000RPM before the next paddle shift. Pretty cool!

Then I stopped at the store, Got back in the car and exited the parking lot in Normal Auto mode, and now the gearing wound out nicely to 4000 RPM before the next shift all by itself!! It never did that before, and I liked it! But it caught me by surprise, as I did not expect the shift points I hit in Manual Mode to affect Normal mode.

So it seems how you drive the car with the paddles in Manual Mode can train the transmission in automatic modes?

BTW: I also learned the hard way...at least in my car, that when shifting from Manual Back to Drive, it is possible for the shifter to notch partway into the Neutral detent if you're not careful. Lever was not depressed. it just doesn't lock solid back into Drive at first...it clicks partway into Neutral, which gave me a momentary WTF....

lol...I did know the transmission learned based on driving habits, but I was surprised to see how I shifted in Manual Mode affected the automatic Normal Mode shift points.

I didn't expect one mode to affect another...

The transmission learns, but I don't think using maual mode like that is how it works.

IKR? That's what I thought too. But my car has NEVER wound out in each gear to 4000 RPM in Normal Mode, but it did it right after I did it in Manual Mode. Can't be a coincidence...

After using Manual Mode, the Normal Auto mode behaved completely differently. It was mimicking exactly how I drove it using Manual. It was such a noticable difference it caught me off guard for a second.

Try it...wind it out in Manual using the paddles, then see if Normal mode does the same thing. I did shut the car off in between, and both modes were under light to medium acceleration. It wasn't like I was wringing it out either.

I think the relatively low miles on your car is attributing to hows its behaving.

You might be right, but it can't be a coincidence. Adaptive learning is gradual, not immediately different after using Manual mode.

Next time I take the car out, I'm going to repeat the procedure and make a more solid observation.

All I can say for now ...is try it yourself and see if your shift points in Auto mode mimic what you just did in Manual.

Did you clear the adaptive learning before you did this?

No, I just tried driving in Manual mode, parked it, went into a store for 10 minutes, got back into the car, put it back into Auto, and the shift points completely changed to what I did in Manual.

Like I said, the difference was so noticable, it surprised me.

Does the adaptive learning keep changing the transmission shifting point Every Time you drive your Mustang?
In other words, it’s always changing the shifting points.

From the all knowing "Google":

In manual mode, your driving with the paddle shifters does not "train" or permanently change the A10 transmission's adaptive learning for its automatic modes. The adaptive learning feature works differently than the temporary manual commands you provide.

I never use adaptive "cruise."

Unless you're talking about the adaptive transmission itself. Normal Mode had always shifted the same until I drove in Manual Mode and let it wind out more between gears. Then immediately after, back in Normal Mode it shifted at the same points I did in Manual mode. It NEVER did that before. It was awesome!

With due respect to the All Knowing Google, I have no other explanation for what I experienced.
