Crazy! Fortunately no such BS from my dealer for my services. But I tell them what I want done!

Went to the dealership to get service done. Advisor showed me this printed out ā€œmenuā€ for ā€œmy vehicleā€. Me thinking it would be substantial since it’s 15k miles, went ahead. Sat down and looked at my service manual and was like, something was off. Went back and got a copy of the ā€œmenuā€ and compared it to the works and lo and behold, this is basically the works with some bullshit add ons. Pissed at myself for not catching it sooner.
Yeah, that's a straight rip off....and one of the reasons I do everything myself in my garage.

My back doesn’t tolerate crawling under a car anymore, but my local dealer has an excellent mobile tech service my car right in my driveway.

That said, one thing nobody here should ever pay for is getting a new cabin air filter installed. It’s so easy and it’s a $15 part a dealer charges like $100 to put in. It’s a 2 minute job.

I have not replaced the one on my S650, but the one in the S550 was/is an absolute PITA getting the old one out and getting the new one installed. Had to squish it into various shapes to get it to fit. Based upon your comment, the S650 must be different. šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

I just watched a video for the S650 cabin air filter and it looks easier than the 550. Looks like it can easily be pulled down towards the passenger floorboard and removed, and the new one can easily slide back in the reverse direction. Sweet!
I put in a K&N cabin filter and changed the factory torx bit screw to a cross tip one makes it even easier.

I hate the BS add ons. I got charged $9 for 150cc of washer fluid on the last service, and I missed it because I was in a rush. This dealer was also hitting a friend of ours for 2 x $100 wiper blades at every yearly service. She only did about 5000km a year.

Dealerships make their money on scheduled service. But this is just straight up bend over and grab your ankles. How on earth did the OP not question this? Please post the name of dealership so they can be appropriately shamed. And no, this isn't a California thing lol. This is a shadey AF dealer thing.

It dawned on me a little too late. This is Future Ford Roseville.

Bummed to hear you had a bad experience. I had a good experience with this dealer for service most recently. Per online reviews they are the best-rated Ford Service department in the area. Online reviews are often manipulated, so who knows.

I did have bad experiences there before too. For my prior '24 Mustang they basically turned me away when I had clear issues including a coolant leak and known axle defect (SSM 52444). They wouldn't provide a loaner and said I had to leave it for 2 weeks for their specialist to look at it, and that people just ask for loaners to scam the system and get a free SUV for the weekend. This was on my 2nd attempt with them, after scheduling an appt a month ahead of time, for 8am on a Monday morning--not exactly weekend trip time!

My honest assessment is: ALL dealers are "less than ideal" shall we say (don't want to offend all the dealer employees on this forum). The auto industry is just set up this way. Most car-related experiences are about gouging the customer, exploiting people, very anti-consumer. I had a good experience with them most recently, but for every 1 customer they treat fairly, they probably have to scam 5 to make up for it.

I love cars but hate the car industry ecosystem.

That’s exactly what it feels like right now. And what makes it worse is, the owner of the damn dealership has a GTD out in the showroom floor because he’s ran out of space in his garage. All these useless add-ons paid for that GTD, and I chipped in 🄲
That was a painful lesson that you won't repeat! I hope you exact some benefit down the road! Glenn
