A speed governor. The button to the far, lower left.

S650 Mustang There is a governor! 1756757091246-v9

When you engage the button, it limits the car to the speed limit.

Try it.

You can override it by slamming the gas pedal all the way to the floor, but the car will ignore throttle input otherwise that seeks to go over whatever the speed limit is on the road where you are driving.

If you are already exceeding the speed limit, it will basically coast until under the speed limit. If you are under, the car will respond and accelerate, but stop accelerating when the speed limit is reached.

are you absolutely, 100%, positively, certain that the button limits to the posted speed limit?

Because, I'm fairly certain the limited setting can be adjusted with the Set+/- buttons just as the normal cruise control is.

I have 1.5 miles of gravel roads between my house and nearest paved road, so I actually use that button to limit my speed on gravel to 15mph.

I’m absolutely positive the manual says so. 🙃

Ah Ha! So it would appear, it does both!
In my case, it sets the limit to the vehicles current speed because no speed limit is detected; and if it were to set at higher than 15mph, I can still adjust it down.
Otherwise, if a speed limit is detected, the system will set to that speed.

I have noticed that speed sign recognition works very well. Way ahead of Google speed limits, and here where there's a different speed limit nearly every damn km, it's big help if you've missed one.

We don't need any more "big brothers" than there already are.

When I first picked up my car this feature was activated in the settings and it drove me nuts. Took me a couple days to figure it out. Its the second worst feature to be put in a car since ASS.

I read a post here somewhere where the car misread a 60 MPH sign for 80 while in that mode. Skivvies were soiled.
I hope our National speed limit sign, a white background with a black diagonal through it, is not mistaken for the European unrestricted speed limit sign.
I doubt the excuse would work if you were pinged at 250 kmh.

The first day I drove this car I accidentally pressed this button I gues and I thought my car was broken. I had traffic behind me because it was set on 40km/h

Not sure why this thread is news :giggle:

That button has been there since the S650 came out and doubles up as a press and long hold for disabling the speed limit warning sound where fitted on later cars / other markets.

It isn't unrestricted in Europe either - it is national speed limit here too.
