Adding Boost Gauge using FORscan - instructions

Everything seems to be working fine until I try to connect. It wants me to manually enter the PCM strategy, which I’ve done following the instructions laid out by Forscan, but still no dice.

How old is the mac? Sounds like possibly a usb port (try a different port) version or mapping issue.

It’s only 3 years old. Yea, I swapped ports. Keeps requesting the PCM strategy. When I enter it, it still doesn’t recognize the car.

Yea, I saw that thread. There's another one where someone had the same issue and emailed Forscan and they were able to correct the issue. I think that's my next step. If that doesn't work I may try my hand at this. Otherwise I may just install a dash mounted analog boost gauge or get the Banks idash.

I sent Forscan an email. They got back to me within a few minutes. They don't provide support unless you purchase the extended license, which is only $12. They were kind enough to let me know that they are releasing an update in 2-3 days that will be able to recognize my car. I guess my car was just too new.

The update to Forscan came out today. The new version recognized my car and I was able to add the boost gauge with no issues.

Does doing this accurately show boost and not vacuum? I don’t have that option on my main screen but I have it on my 2nd screen with the auxiliary gauges and it shows vacuum and nothing for boost. Obviously I have the whipple kit as well

Just completed this. The gauge in the centre screen still only shows vacuum. Any way to change this to a boost gauge as well?

You need to toggle to the right it is a separate gauge… but be aware sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn’t.. haven’t figured out why. I deleted all profiles used different keys started different ways… it has a mind of its own own

Sorry .. The center gauge main screen will show vac and flip to boost.. for the auxiliary gauge screen the boost is separate gauge

VMS are always trouble for direct access stuff like this try passing the whole USB controller you have the obd adapter through.
Not even sure you can do that in parallels.

I use macs as well- and it’s for things like this I picked up a decent little Asus laptop on Black Friday for like $350

I just want my boost gauge turned on, I don’t want to buy an interface and download software on my old laptop. Lmk

No, it’s on me for not following up, I still want it done but have just had a crazy busy schedule all year

I was looking at just getting a livewire vision TS so it shows and datalogs boost, spark, knock trims etc…
