Where do you see that from Ford? I am not see that anywhere on Ford's site...
See post #44. This has always been the case going back to at least 2015.

Thanks! I’ll be damned! Good to know.

I’ve seen posts saying run E30.

Without a tune will it respond ???

if so, any dynos showing that? Loved the dyno earlier showing octane differences

There should be nothing less that quality 91 in this (5.0) engine quality 93 would be the best without getting exotic. Shell's 91 has proven very good on the dynos in the past.

Make that Top Tier gas also. Ford recommends it, there is evidence it is better, I've used it for a LONG time and have have run company vehicles over a half million brutal miles on 87 octane Top Tier. That's my target, then I get rid of them.....gas vehicles too. FWIW. New diesels won't last that long.

2020 F150 4x4 Limited. 2024 GT Mustang Premium. Both in Rapid Red.
I alternate between our 95 (91) and 98 (93), the butt dyno can't tell a difference and fuel consumption is effectively the same.
The only reason I use 98 at all is that it's recommended by the manufacturer.
Where do you find 98 Octane?
I have a New 1965 Mustang Owner’s Manual.
It states the 289 with a 4-Barrel Carb. must use Premium, (at least 99 Octane).
The 289 Hi-Performance must use Premium , (at least 101 Octane).
I believe 98 Octane in the 5.0 would make a big difference.
Here in Colorado 91 is as high as we can get.
I use 91 Octane in my Lawnmower.
Why not use it in your Experience Mustang?
I haven’t seen 98 Octane since the 1960’s Early 70’s.
