Does this imply the rev-match function will eventually wear out?
Nah, this was something funky with the shifting hydraulics not working in sync with the ECU programming. Its almost like the timing was off on the throttle blip vs the gear position, or sometimes it just wouldn't blip enough because it was confused? Hard to say, but I experienced it on a few SMG's with higher miles. I suspect it all traces back to the transmission hydraulics in one form or another.

Revmatch on modern manuals simply calculate the engine speed based on wheel speed and gear position. way more accurate.

The "fun" of a manual, isn't just the stick, it's the whole thing of changing the gears (including the clutch).
And that "fun" part is relative... as I said in my first post in this thread, after tens of years of manual cars, I've figured that the "fun" for me and my driving style is the performance, I drive it like a manual, but faster, in every circumstances.
Although get walked from a roll and maybe even launch for some? drivers choice may result in faster in every circumstance for the driver not necessarily the car.

Remove the speed limiter and they'll be less. :)
I don’t follow. They’re overdrive gears because the ratio is less than 1:1. How does the governor play into that?

It's faster in roll as well, being always near the top of the torque, even by changing more gears, gives an advantage that couldn't be recovered with a longer gear ratio. However I'm not talking about "racing with others", it's just gives the feel of a more port-oriented car, maybe it doesn't fit exactly the essence of a Mustang, but this isn't a Mustang that we used to know in the 60-70's anyway.

Right. I was talking about the "uselessness" of having X gears that couldn't be used for the performance, because the speed limiter will hit first. :)

Decent feedback of an opinion, thanks for keeping it civil.

I ordered a GT Premium Convertible, 6-speed, PP and Magnaride in May. I sat in front of the salesman at the dealership. The salesman and I reviewed the computer screen together selecting the colors and options I wanted. I walked away with a copy of the order and a receipt for my deposit.

Next day I got the first ‘Ford’ email acknowledging the order for the car, that emails would follow as the order progressed. To my surprise later that day the salesman whom I met and ordered the car with called and said he cancelled the order. The order was done under the wrong dealership. It took him 4 orders to get the options correctly. Ford sent emails for 2 of the 3. The 3rd one was right..

The car being built does not have a 6-speed, it's an automatic. It’s one of the orders the salesman got wrong..

It’s in production this week and will likely be shipped soon. I told him I wanted first dibs on the car with employee pricing that lowers the MSRP nearly 6k. If I order a 26 like I want it will run about 70 or so..

My question is.. are you satisfied with the 10 speed auto trans performance or are you aching for a 6-speed? Want to know how stick shift drivers experience driving with the automatic.

Here is the car I am waiting for..

Absolutely love mine. It has 10 speed and it is a great setup. The day I brought mine home my neighbor with a modified Camaro came over to see it. He asked what transmission I got and he was very complimentary of it. Said you would have to be a pro driver to get close to it with a manual box. I agree. Pleasure to drive and the programmed modes are impressive. Enjoy.

That's the exact example I've posted above. Normally when I'm cruising, I'm in 10th, If i need immediate speed, I drop it in 7th or even in 6th (depending of the speed) by pressing the paddle 3 or 4 times, and I will be in the desired rpm "immediately", faster than what I was doing with my "manual" Mustang. It depends on how fast you press the paddle, coz the gear change is pretty fast too, so if you hesitate you will end doing a 10>9>8>7 ... but if you click on the thing rapidly like 3 times in less than a second, it does 10>7.
It does the same even in "A", the computer senses that you floored the pedal and it does 10>7, skipping the gears, BUT in "auto" there's a little lag before the "computer" understand that you want to accelerate, that's why most of the time I drive in "M" with the paddles.. driving in "A" only when I'm really cruising forgetting the spiritate driving.
Excellent info. I was wondering if that would be the case.

Beautiful spec for sure. Here’s my 2 cents. I had a PP 22 S550 10 Speed, there is no denying it is blazingly quick. On a roll they are absolutely nasty. But here’s the kicker I personally found in every day driving settings and cruising, the adaptive learning would cause the 3-4 and 4-5 shift to buck 10/10 it was super annoying and my passengers would wonder what broke but I come to learn it was 10 speed things. It felt like someone rear ended me for a split second in between shifts. Intermittent issue as adaptive learning has a mind of its own. I heard the S650 is better overall, I only drove a convertible 10 speed performance pack once and it did have nice claps on upshifts and it seemed more responsive than my s550. However I traded that car for a PP manual magnaride car and rowing my own gears and the downshifts outweigh that 10 speed quickness for me.
Having driven a convertible 6 speed it’s that much more fun.
Cheers

Well said, when is take friends for a ride the car was embarrassing and I’d have to apologize for its erratic behavior. Holding gears way too long, confused at low speeds. Bucking forward for no reason. I was so happy to get rid of that transmission even after much improvement with the Wengerd tune.
I hope they fixed the s650 . Ford should reimburse me for the $10k in mods I put into that 10-speed!! Dicks! They knew the issues too. Fuck you Ford for that piece of shit trans!
if you can’t tell I’m butt hurt.. lol

Yeah but bro, your transmission was messed up and not a good example of the A10 at all. Plus the Mach 1 A10 programming was notoriously screwy from the factory.

The S650 shift programming is very smooth. I probably drove 5 autos before buying mine and they were all smooth and problem free. I have no such issues on mine (knock on wood).

I wish I could try yours out man… really I’m happy you have a good one and hope it stays that way.
I really don’t think mine was a bad one, it was just all the s550’s which Is why Ford should be ashamed, instead they told people is was normal and under filled the trans fluid from factory which was impossible to check unless you trusted your Ford dealer to disassemble the underneath, to check it when warm which I don’t . Like wtf!
2 buddies with F150’s always in the shop for 10-speed issues too: absolute bullshit

I'm currently using sport mode around town to see how it feels and if there's any increase in gas useage. So far, so good, just a bit of hanging onto gears a tad too long. It certainly wakes the car up.

Yeah, Even though I’m still breaking mine in, I’ve dabbled with Sport. It does hang on to gears too long, especially 5th. I found when it does, just blip the paddle up to the next gear and sort it out on your own.

Pedal response IS better though!
