IIRC, Ford is using airflow thru the radiator as a variable , but why Ford lowered the limit for the regular S650 Mustang GT to 145 when the S550 was 155 when the front is more open on the S650, I dunno.

Makes sense. You can see GT's hitting a limit at 145 in some dyno videos.

I guess with "airflow" he means the aerodynamics. It isn't really designed to go above certain speeds (while still safe to drive).

No limit by air flow means they will close the throttle body at/after that speed

My GT has seen 150 on the speedometer, FWIW. Didn't want to hit the rev-limiter going that fast.

No speed limiter patch yet from HPT. There are a few undefined parameters we still need in the tune to kill the top speed limiter.

a very good approximation of the limited top speed would be to look at the tire speed rating, the top speed will never exceed what the tires installed from the factory are rated for.

Not necessarily when there are electronic limiters involved. My e90 M can with Pilot SuperSports, rated at 186MPH. Limiter is 150, but with limiter delete it gets into the very high 190s...The car is capable of more than the tires it came with, even if the manufacturer was using the electronic limiter for liability. I believe that's the question here-what is the top speed without limiter.

None of those are related directly to the speed limiter (I was joking indeed.. like the tires that has anything to do with it...), in example my DH is limited to 253km/h due to the EU regulations.

The hood vent is not only a functional lift-reduction device but is something that Ford has been able to maximize based on what it's learned from its GT3 and GT4 racing programs. The aerospace background from people like Gesek certainly doesn't hurt, either. He shares that the hood vent on the GT Performance Pack and the Dark Horse has an enlarged front slat called a "scupper" in order to accelerate the air coming out of the vent. Gesek added that the goal is “creating this low pressure zone behind that raised leading edge, which helps to draw more air out of that vent. So if we just had that vent flat on the hood, it'd be 20 percent as good as it is. Putting that little leading edge on it kind of turbocharged it.”

I was wondering what the limiter is, and what the top speed might be without it, as well.

It almost sounds like the limiter is different on different models.

I was told 168 for the 6spd and 166 for the A10.

Judging by looking in my rear view mirror, I’d say about 10-15 mph less than a 350! ;)
