Agree with others: no need to add oil. The following is an excerpt from the '22 manual.

"Note: If the oil level is between the maximum and minimum marks, the oil level is acceptable. Do not add oil."

A new car. Check fluids and perform visual inspections as you have been. After a while, you'll develop a routine to keep an eye on things.

I'd be concerned if the vehicle routinely looses oil; your checks will confirm that.

Seals leaking should be corrected in a reasonable amount of time.

These are Ford's comments from the '22 manual regarding oil consumption involving new engines.

"Note: The oil consumption of new engines reaches its normal level after approximately 3,000 mi (5,000 km)."

Most modern engines consume zero oil. Some do, when new or driving hard. A little here, a little here, is often not a concern. Losing large amounts of oil on a consistent basis for no perceived reason, seeing smoke, etc, is something to take action on. Ford has oil consumption tests to check for that.

For now, I think you're witnessing what several others have: that Ford often fills the engine to the mid-point on the dipstick from the factory, which is fine. Too much oil is as bad as too little.

FWIW, my vehicle has never been at the "Full" mark, even after an oil change; it always registers a bit down. While I check fluids on schedule, being in-between the "Min" and "Max", I've always left it alone.

Half a quart low is the perfect time to add Ceratec.

1/2 way on the stick, especially when the engine is cold is the sweet spot.

At 1200 miles, it's time to change your oil anyway. Dump the break-in oil and put in new oil without the little sparkles in it which is break in metal which every engine has. FWIW.

maybe a dumb question , but why 1/2 way on the hatch on the stick is a "sweet spot". Does't that mean the engine has about 0.5 Q less ? Does the oil filter have 0.5Q capacity ?

it accounts for fluid expansion so the crank is not hitting the top of the oil

i put 10qts in using some of it to prefill the filter about 70% and i was at half way on mine and i really let the 10qts drain as i have a big funnel and leave then in there upside down as i pour next and book calls for 10qts so you dont need to add an extra .5qt just to make it full

A little background is in order here.
Think of the dipstick as a ā€œgo or no-goā€ gauge. If it reads at the bottom line, you add some oil. If it reads at the top, stop! If you overfill an engine with oil it can reach the point of touching the crankshaft. This turns the oil frothy(air filled). At this point the oil cannot do its job of lubricating or cooling. This is why overfilling is just as bad as running low.
I also cannot confirm that the measurement from the fill line to the full line is actually 1/2 quart. It has varied from engine to engine and brand to brand.

Got it. Thanks. I checked the oil level after having it parked overnight. This is what I see. It's within the hatched area but towards the low end...Also I noticed an oily area in the tray...not sure if it is leaking oil or its an oil spill form the last change...car has almost done 4300 miles since last oil change. Total mileage is about 15600 miles. I tried to look underneath in the oil pan and filter and around the ending bay, but did not see any visible leaks....will probably get a new oil change by end this month and will find out....

Nothing to worry about here.
When oil changes are performed, most techs spill a bit when taking off the filter. Looks like it just didn’t get wiped up very well. Does not look like a current leak. Using that amount of oil more than 4k miles after a change is outstanding. Make sure you use full synthetic oil, and change it as often as you can afford, but never past the recommended mileage. Just for fun and future knowledge, you could go ahead and put in half a quart and see what difference it makes on the stick.

I've never seen such a stern warning on overfilling in any other manual. I wonder why it's so critical in the Coyote?
Clearance between oil level and crank webs maybe?

We are all learning more and more about this stuff every day.
The ā€œoverfillingā€ does not apply to just Coyote engines. Nearly all crankshafts rotate way below the line of the oil pan.
Oil in your car is a lot like fertilizer on your lawn. A little is okay; the right amount is better, and too much is a bad thing. Sounds like something my dad would have said to me. Sadly, I’m at grandfather age now myself.. šŸ‘€

Thanks, I am aware of the effect of windage in the oil pan. But usually it takes quite severe overfilling to do damage. Ford sounds like 200 mls over and your engine goes boom
