2024 Ford Mustang V8 To Approach 500 Horsepower

The 14th September Official REVEAL for the Gen 7 S650 Mustang cannot come soon enough !!!

" the 2022 Ford Mustang models equipped with the Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote engine took a hit in terms of output to the tune of 10 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque (US Market only) when compared to the 2021 model year. This decline was blamed on emissions requirements, but it was a disappointing development, regardless, as cars tend to gain power year-over-year – not lose it. Regardless, things are looking up for the forthcoming next-generation S650 2024 Ford Mustang V8, as sources familiar with the matter have told Ford Authority that it will approach 500 horsepower in at least one configuration."

the Bullitt and Mach 1 already were approaching 500hp at 480.
There needs to be a 20 hp jump from last year. An even 500 would be perfect.

First and foremost it’s been common knowledge that the bullitt/mach 1 engines are underrated. They’re making a solid 490-500hp as they sit. My guess is you’ll see the next gen GT use the mach 1 engine or it’s the starting point 500hp would be very nice but i would be very surprised if they got more than that. The coyote platform had a 10 year life cycle “originally “ and they would need to make some big time changes to push it into the 525-550hp range at a reasonable cost, that they can produce in mass DONT forget that

I've never seen a dyno sheet that ever came close to being able to assert that. The nonsense of made up engine numbers stopped with the 70's.
Yeah no bullits and mach 1 make 420-440whp depending on the dyno and on top of that the Germans are famous for BSing numbers DONT be cynical

You are confusing Rear Wheel HP (Chassis Dyno) with Official Engine HP Ratings, which are ALWAYS taken off the FLYWHEEL - with no Transmission HP loss.

So the MY22 lost 10 Hp & 10 Tq from the MY21 due to new "Green" Emissions restrictions, however it seems Ford have probably done a major Upgrade on the Coyote V8.

So will the GT be upgraded to the equivalent of the 2021 Mach1 (480Hp), and Mach1 to near 500Hp?

"Made up" numbers? Dude, you must be the most miserable person in real life. All you do on this forum is piss and moan. This numbers comment takes the cake though. Dyno numbers have consistently established that the Mach 1 makes closer to 500hp at the crank, 430hp to the tire.

chassis/wheel dyno numbers are not relevant to crank HP claims. There's way to much fudging going on. Sure 430/.88 is 488 but unless you've got an actual engine dyno trace I don't believe a damn thing.

And anyway 460, 480, or 500 it doesn't matter. Nobody sits down at the kitchen table and says, well shoot, it's claimed engine dyno numbers are off by 20 so I'm not going to buy it.

the current GT could easily have kept power with a little tweak. Easily. Same with Mach 1. If Ford gave the Coyote a major overhaul, then I’d expect more than 20 horsepower.

I know the weirdos at world economic forum want to get rid of our personal transportation and see cars built more like busses and but we don’t. So horsepower, torque, performance e, and fun factor matter. A lot.

Not sure the Mach 1 debuts at s650 launch. But 500 hp or more for a Boss or Mach 1 would be great. Since they are specialty cars, they can bump it to 525 - especially in case of a boss model.

Personally, I’d like to see an eco, GT, BOSS, and Cobra. The Shelby name can take s short break.

Eco boost at entry level, GT (480 hp) being the street supremacist, the BOSS (525 hp) being the road course racer, and the Cobra (1.000+ likely hybrid hp) being the exotic performing ultimate destructor.

There is usually a 16%-18% (or more) Hp loss through the Transmission, and frictional loss at the tyres

That power comes into play every day. Getting around slow cars on a 2-lane, playing ping pong back and forth between lanes to stagger around slow vehicles on a 4-lane. Hwy on-ramp. Nothing to do with top speed. IMO, the mustang is a lot safer than a 200-hp sedan with a fat ass in a moment of need.
